1. What make/model is your headset? If it is not specifically designed for Cisco, it will not work, since Cisco has different signaling on the headset port.

2. What port did you connect it? First of all - Cisco 7911 has no headset capability, and the only option for these phones is to replace handset with a headset (however you still need to operate a handset to answer and finish the call).

Cisco 7940 and 7970 (as well as all other 7940 and up) have a dedicated headset port, right next to the handset "curly cord". Don't try to plug to the port next to the network cables - it's digital port with 48V on it.

Also, you can always use our adapters, that will convert a regular audio headsets (PC headset or iPhone/smartphone headset) into the Cisco compatible headset.

You can use a Plantronics S11 headset with a Cisco phone, however it is not the best compatible solution. To use an S11 with a Cisco phone, you have to make sure that you are plugging it into the handset receiver jack and not the headset jack. You will need to lift the handset receiver, set it off to the side, and then hang it up after each call. If you want a more compatible solution that you can plug into the actual headset jack and just press the headset button on the telephone to answer and hang up, then you would need one of the Plantronics "H-series headsets" with the Plantronics Cisco direct connect cable ( model 26716-01 ).

Uniden troubleshooting

was the old phone connected to a Private Automatic Branch Exchange P.A.B.X like for example a comander system if so the new phone would have to be a PABX type phone extention type. I suspect the Uniden phone is not compatible with the PABX extension socket.

I do not know what phone system you are using you might want to find out the model number of your PBX device and research if it uses VOIP = I can only guess that this is the situation

I connected my S11 plantronics headset to my Cisco 7900 at work and can hear, but callers can't hear me

Most Cisco phones have a headset port where you can connect a headset using a special direct connect cable. This allows you to use your headset without touching the handset (receiver). However, when using an amplifier and headset combination, like the S11, you will need to connect through the HANDSET port. You disconnect the handset cable from the phone, connect the S11 cable into that port and connect the handset cable into the back of the S11 amplifier. Be sure to follow the illustrations on the back of the amplifier when connecting the cables. Also, adjust the configuration slide on the left of the amplifier for the best possible dial tone. Remember that in order to access a call or make a call, you will have to lift the handset off the phone and set it aside (switch hook needs to be activated).

PLANTRONICS Headphone won't work with IP 501 sip, polycome phone

Dont plugged into the headset jack. Like Nortel, connect headset line with phone base unit in receiver jack and plugged your phone receiver wire into headset or plantronic base unit. This will work. I am sorry, my english is not too good but hope you understand it now. But the pully is not working properly with IP501..I mean it is not good to pickup IP501 receiver and put it back right place.

Unable to connect jabra t5330 to a cisco ip phone 7941G headset jack

You can solve this by connecting your phone inline.
On the back of the phone where the phone handset plugs into, plug one end of the jabra headset wire & connect other end to the 2nd position (marked by phone & handset). Now plug the handset wire from Ip phone to the 1st position (marked by handset) in the jabra headset. Now you are good to go.

When the phone rings lift the phone handset and answer it with your jabra headset. You can't use jabra with 7941 without lifting the handset on phone.

Best Buy: Plantronics Problem

James, plug the phone cord that comes out of the back of the CS55 base into the handset port of the Cisco phone, not the headset port.  Then plug the coily cord from the cisco receiver into the front of the CS55.  Don't use the "Headset" button on your Cisco phone, just lift the receiver off.
