Have and old Sony DCR-TRV340E camera, how do I install driver for it on my pc running Windows 7 64 bit version. I like the camera, so do not wish to change it, and have no drivers with it

I'm sorry you're experiencing difficulty with transferring videos from the Camcorder to the Windows 7 Computer. Unfortunately, the USB streaming feature of the Camcorder is not compatible with Windows 7 Operating System. However, you can use either i.LINK or A/V interface to transfer videos from the Camcorder to the Windwos 7 Computer. I have provided a link where you can view the steps to transfer videos using i.LINK interface:
http://www.kb.sony.com/selfservice/documentLink.do?externalId=C111893
I have provided another link where you can view the steps to transfer videos using A/V interface:

Thank you for understanding.

I need a dcr-hc85 driver for windows Vista where can i get it

  • Windows Vista Starter edition is not supported.
  • The USB streaming feature is not supported with 64-bit Windows Vista operating systems.

  • The drivers required to connect most Sony® cameras and camcorders to a computer are already included in the Microsoft Windows Vista operating system.
    Note:
In some instances, the camera or camcorder may not be recognized by the computer when connected. In this case, check to see if there is an updated driver available for your model.

If the above link doesn't work, you can check to see if there is an updated driver at this address:

    Hope this has helped you.

Need to transfer video from my sony handycam to my pc

If you want to use the USB cable to connect the Camera to the Computer to transfer the video to the Computer then:

(Applicable for Vista Operating System Only.)

This Camcorder does not support USB streaming with the VISTA Operating System. Use an i.LINK cable to transfer the video to the Computer. The i.LINK port is also called IEEE 1394 or Firewire port. (An i.LINK is a black D shaped connector with 4 or 6 pins. The type of cable to be used will depend on the i.LINK port of your Computer. The Sony Camcorder will have the 4 pin i.LINK cable and if the computer has the 6 pin i.LINK port, then you may have to use the 4 pin to 6 pin i.LINK Cable).

You can use any video capturing software like Windows Movie Maker to transfer the video from the Computer.

Refer this link for the instruction to transfer the video to the Computer using i.LINK cable.

    http://www.kb.sony.com/selfservice/documentLink.do?externalId=C111893

NOTE:As the Camcorder does not support USB streaming with Vista, it is not required to use any Sony Device Driver to transfer the video to the Computer. You do not require any Drivers or Software from Sony to transfer the video from the Camcorder to the Computer using the i.LINK/Firewire interface.

(Applicable for Windows XP Operating System only):

If you are using a Windows XP Operating System then you have to install the USB Streaming Driver in the Computer from the supplied Software disk with the Computer.

Check this link for the instruction to transfer video to a Computer using USB Streaming.

    http://www.kb.sony.com/selfservice/documentLink.do?externalId=C222820

If you do not have the supplied Software disk then I suggest that you use the i.LINK cable to transfer the video.

    Good Luck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I can't install USB driver for Sony handycam TRV250E

    Hi there.
The reason that you cannot install the drivers for the camcorder is because your operating system is a 64 bit system. after looking on Sony's support website i don't think that they supply the X64 drivers anymore.
If you have you original software CD try installing the cam with that because the X64 drivers could be on the CD.

Good luck and thanks for using FixYa!!

I need dirver Windows Vista 64 bits for Handycam TRV-740

This was taken from Sony's Website....
Driver information for Microsoft® Windows Vista® and Windows® XP
    • The drivers needed to connect most Sony® cameras and camcorders to a computer are already included in the Windows Vista and Windows XP operating systems. With these drivers, you should be able to connect and transfer files to a computer.
    • The USB streaming feature is not supported with the Windows Vista operating system.
    • Detailed Windows Vista compatibility information is available for Sony Cameras and Camcorders.
    • The Windows Vista Starter edition and Windows XP 64-bit operating systems are not supported.
So as you can see...the 64 bit OS is NOT supported.  The only luck you are going to have is either go to XP, Vista 32 bit...or see if there is a 3rd party driver someone made on the internet.  Try google....but I would have to say due to the complex nature of the drivers, it is highly unlikely that anyone has made a driver that is compatible.  It just has to do with how the 64 bit OS is made.  There might be a way to use 32 bit drivers, however you might run into some issues with processing and streaming.  To my knowledge of 64 bit systems, they are backwards compatible with 32 bit applications, so you can use wither 32 or 64 bit drivers....the only downside is by using 32 bit on a 64 bit machine, you are going to suffer a little bit of performance loss.  I hope this answers your questions.
