Ok, its not the 2 quick beeps you need to listen to.
Turn the PS3 into standby, then press and hold the power button.
It will beep as soon as you press the button, then beep once more 5 seconds later. Release the power button when you hear the second beep, that should reset the video resolution to standard definition and you should now get a picture on the screen. If it does not work post a reply here and I will assist your further.

My ps3 console signal isn't working but the sound works but there is no signal! not even a hdmi cable works help!

Try these tips to fix the so-called "black screen of death".

Tip 1: The main reason of HDMI black screen problem due to HDMI cable may be damaged and not properly connected to the PS3 console. Please follow below step to troubleshoot PS3 HDMI cables problem:

1) Restart your PlayStation 3.
2) Look for loose cables.
3) Try to unplug all cables except the power cord, and plug them back in. If you found out that your HDMI cable is damaged, borrow a friends cable and try it. If your friends cable works fine, and the black screen error disappears. Then you can buy a brand new HDMI cable for a replacement.

Tip 2: Only try as last resort. There is a possibility you'll lose all data on your PS3's hard drive. If tip 1 didn't work, you will need to go a step deeper and reset your console. Most PS3 gamers are not aware that Sony actually included a black screen of death troubleshooting method and other HDMI problems in the PS3 manual, you can find it under the troubleshooting section - topic "console reset".

If you do it correctly, the console reset fix will allow you to reset back your PS3 to its default HDMI settings without impacting your gamer profile, and other storage data on the hard drive.

You will need to perform the following steps:

1. Place your PS3 in stand-by mode.
2. Hold down the touch power button until a series of beeps are heard.
3. Listen for one long beep, followed by two shorter beeps.
4. Release the power button.
5. Follow the instructions on screen.

If it works you should be good to go.

MY PS3 is hooked up via HDMI and has always worked fine. All of a sudden i went to turn it on and there was nothing but black, it detected a signal, but it was just black.

Hi there, Have you switched cables or changed any of the video output settings on the ps3 or your telly? Just double check all the settings and that the cables are connected properly and are not damaged. If you have another cable try that to see if you still have a black screen or try on another telly with the same cable to see if it's the cable that the problem is? If you using a standard cable to try on another tv, you will have to reset the video output so it will work, to do this simply hold down the power button on the front of the ps3 until it powers off again and this will allow it work on a standard tv with standard cable, and to switch back to hdmi just connect with hdmi. Cable to HDTV and the ps3 will detect the cable and ask if you want to use these settings. Hope this helps

Switches on all i get is the wavey line and coloured background, nothing else.

Hi
First try the ps3 reset where you hold the start button until your hear the two beeps (about 5 seconds).

this this does not work then pleaee try the following
Please note you will lose your game saves! Also, this is a last resort procedure prior to exchanging/returning to sony.

1. Power Off the PS3 via the power switch in back and power back on w/switch.
2. Hold Power Button on the Front until you hear 3 beeps.
3. Then go through the initial setup and then run a full Format via System > Format. (will take approx 3 1/1 hours). You may need to have our AV cables ready if your using HDMI (in case HDMI isn’t detected after initial reset).
4. Restore your backup you made prior to doing factory/hard reset (optional, if you created a backup).
Hopefully this will solve your freezing problems.

My ps3 will boot up and the green light is on but i cannot see what is being displayed. i once changed the settings from the three prong to HDMI cable and since then i have not been able to view anything...

1. Turn off the PS3
2. Plug in whatever cable you are going to use
3. Hold the power button down until it beeps once followed by two quick beeps

This resets the display settings to defaults and you will see the picture again.

My so moved his ps 3 from the HDTV (HDMI) cable

Nothing wrong, you just need to reset the video back to default.

While the PS3 is off (red led), hold down the power button until you hear the SECOND beep, quickly release.

Video should be up now :)

My ps3 is turning on but my tv says no signal on AV1,2,and 3.

You should start with a manual video reset.

While th PS3 is off, hold down the front power button until you hear two beeps, then quickly release. This will reset your video back to default.
