You can do 2 things,
1. Stop charging from USB port and buy yourself a wall socket adapter.
2. Replace the battery,
And as a tip I will tell you that you shouldn't let your battery run down flat keep it charged always.

SOURCE: ipod touch wont charge

After a while the ipod batteries go bad.
Have a technician install a new battery for you and your ipod will work fine.
I DO NOT recommend this as a do it yourself Job.Th ipod touch has a battery that is soldered in and is not easy to install. pay the money to have a tech do it and you will be happy you did.

I charge my customers around $35.00 (installed) for the battery so you should be able to find it for somewhere around 35.00 - 50.00

When I Connect My Ipod Touch 8gb To My Computer It Wont Turn On And I Didnt Charge It For Like A Month What Should I Do Please Help Me!!!

You are right, it doesn't have enough power to turn on because the battery was drained. You're saying that it wont charge? It could only be the USB cable problem. Try to use a different iPod USB cable and check if it charges the iPod. Another thing is try to charge the iPod using the stand alone USB charger. Your iPod requires high power input. If that doesn't work, you may start to think that it is a battery failure.

Charging

Some Pure-Fi's has a problem charging 2nd Gen Touch iPod, even when proper supplied adapter is used. You can try pressing the iPod further into the connector and see if it stays charging. If not, you can tilt the Touch slightly forward to make proper charging contact with Pure-Fi's iPod connector.

If you only charge your 2nd Gen Touch in your Pure-Fi, or other devices less thick than the Touch, like iPod Nanos, then you can stick a spacer on the Pure-Fi behind the Touch to always properly tilt it slightly forward. Only space it slightly forward just enough to cause it to charge so as not to stress the connector.

Stick-on chair/furniture protectors work good for this. If they are too thin, stick one on top the other till you get the thickness you need. Do not use any thicker a spacer than needed so as not to stress the connector any more than needed to make charging contact Use thinner stick-ons, like double sided foam tape, to get the final spacing you need.

The added advantage to a proper spacing between an iPod and Pure-Fi, is it relieves connector stress when plugging in and using an iPod while plugged in, since the taller Touch iPod cannot tilt backward. If you place your spacer at the very top of the Pure-if back panel, then iPods thicker, but shorter, than the height of your space can also be used.

Hope this helps everyone with this irritating Pure-Fi design problem.

To view the charging/not charging status on the 2nd Gen's screen, turn off the 2nd Gen and the Charging Icon will show when contact is being made.

My ipod wont stay charged

This may not be the answer you are looking for but your I pod might not be fully charged, meaning that you are not plugging it in the computer/docking system long enough.( it takes much longer than 15 minutes to charge the battery. So you might want to plug it in/dock it over night) Or you may be playing a game that uses a lot of MB/GB so it kills the battery. And make sure that you press the play/pause button down for at least five seconds before switching the little switch at the top of your I pod. If you don't press the play/pause button for five seconds and just switch the switch at the top a little lock will appear on the left corner meaning you need to hold the play/pause button down for five seconds then the i pod screen goes black at that time flick the switch at the top off. -hope it helps owner of i pod nano and I pod touch.

Why wont my ipod touch turn on i turned it off and it wont come o

Hold the power button and home button for 10 seconds to ensure the device is off. Let go.

Hold the home button down, plug in the ipod to the computer, after the screen changes to the itunes plug screen, let go of the home button.

The ipod will now be in recovery mode, and you can attempt to perform a restore within itunes.

If the restore fails, and the ipod screen stays black, this means the battery is dead and must be replaced.

My Jensen ipod docking system wont charge my i touch

The older ipods charge using 12v, the newer ones (including the Touch 2nd gen) use 5v. So a lot of docks that will charge a nano will not charge a new Touch. If a dock says it will work with the iPhone then it will work with the newer iPod Touch (2nd gen).
If you have an old dock and want to charge a new Touch (sounds like the case here) then you can get an adapter. Scosche makes one just for this.
