Printer indicates paper out when paper is in the paper holder?

if it has paper then the paper holder may be aligned correctly, try adjusting the paper holder and filling the holder to the max with paper. Im not exactly sure whats going on you simply did not provide enough information. Good luck

Make sure you are using thermal paper which is 57mm wide.
Open the printer cover. Lift the paper holder lever on top of the printer. Remove the old tube from the last roll if it is still in the bottom of the printer. Drop the new roll into the roll holder in the bottom of the printer. Make sure the paper is coming from the bottom of the roll rather than off the top as it unwinds. Pull the paper out the front of the printer and close the paper holder lever down onto the paper. The shiny side of the paper should be facing you as it comes out of the printer. If not, the paper will feed out blank during printing. If you are replacing the journal roll, slip the end of the paper into the slit in the takeup spool (black reel) and wind over a couple of times before dropping into place. Replace the printer cover and make sure the receipt comes out of the cut out in the cover.

That error message means that the cartridge holder is blocked.

Turn the printer off and then manually move the cartridge holder a few inches. The holder could just be stuck.

The manual states that the error code 5100 is a result of:

Service error 5100 is displayed

Cause: Movement of the FINE Cartridge Holder is blocked.
Action: Clear the paper jam or foreign object that is preventing the FINE Cartridge Holder from moving, cancel printing from your computer, then turn OFF the machine and turn it back ON again.

You might see something blocking the printer head, check inside to see if there is a paper jam, staple, or some other object blocking the print head.

If this does not work, try resetting the device:

1. Turn the printer off.
2. Hold the button Resume / Cancel (red triangle in the circle), click POWER - indicator lights green.
3. Release the button Resume / Cancel, keeping POWER.
4. Click Resume / Cancel 2 times, keeping POWER, and then release all the buttons.
5. When the indicator light Green - click Resume / Cancel 4 times!
6. Turn the printer off button POWER.

At the printer:
1. Remove any paper from the input tray
2. Put a few sheets of 4x6 (10 or so) in the same tray
3. Adjust the paper holder bar so that the 4x6 paper stays straight in place. The holder bar was holding the 8x11 paper in place.

On the computer:
Open a picture
Seect [File] [Print]
Select the photo printer from the list
Cick on [Preferences]
See the paper type? select photo paper
See the paper size? Select 4x6
Quality (Best)
[OK]
[PRINT]

try to add some or more paper on the tray and clean the tab circuit of the carrier or the cartridge holder and clean also the tab circuit of the printhead...

The printer may have an internal error or a hardware issue already.
Ink pads full usually indicates if all lights are flashing and an error msg would pop up in your computer screen "parts inside..."

Here's what you may want to try.
Just turn off the printer.
Checked for obstructions or any foreign objects inside the printer.
Try to check from inside the printer where the ink cart holder is, from where you load the paper and from where the paper comes out.

I would definitely suggest ordering the drum life kit and replace that. A lot of times the tray comes undone from the paper tray holders causing the rollers to not be able to pickup paper. Be sure all the plastic holders are snapped into place on the right paper size setting and check the rollers for dirt, glue or wear.
