Chb3113, You will need to do the Flashlight test when monitor goes to black screen! Tell me what you see or don't see by holding a bright flashlight 1 inch from sscreen where you know something should be!!! If you see the icons or win-start button then switch-mode-supply is in partial shutdown mode. See nothing, then SMPS in full shutdown mode. Sounds like failed capacitors on SMPS printed circuit board or problem with the cold cathode fluorescent lamp electronic ballast circuit which lights-up your lamps. If not willing to do the research and the repair work, then just trade-in for new unit. Do some reading in my and other CCFL back-lit lcd monitor tech's fixya profiles to see if DIY will work for you. Follow links you find there. "budmrtn" "buddymc" "12fixlouie" (me) are just some of the files you should read and also visit YOUTUBE for repair video clips of other owners who repair their units for less than $10 in parts.
