PSP Problem Hi My PSP UMD Reader Is Not Working And I Was Wondering If You Know A Place That Can Fix It My PSP Is A Psp 2001 star wars Version

1. From the XMB menu, press the Select button
2. Scroll down to UMD ISO Mode
3. Change the setting to m33 driver - no UMD
4. Press the Select button again to exit the menu

Sounds like your having a hardware issue with the psp. have it looked at by a qualified tech

The problem is that when your brother dropped it ,, he must have broken something in the reader , where now the reader cant be able to read the UMD disks an easy solution is to make there is no dust in the UMD reading place or trapped in the UMD, second of all if the reader is really broken you can go to the nearest psp fix shop he will tell you the problem and whether you wanna fix it or not... finally, the most preferred way is by giving up on UMD and start using psp isos downloaded from the internet for free,, all you need is a memory stick preferred 2gb or higher... and a CFW which u can find tutorials all over youtube finally you just play the games off of your psp memory stick for free... hope it helps ^^

my soloution is to take it back to the store to fix it or do u have a warent if so u can trade your psp for a nother on

Yeah you can update your psp, just make sure it has at least 70% charge, 100 would be be better, plug it in and make sure you don't switch it off during its update. if you do, it will be bricked. as long as you do it properly, it will be fine.

i also heard you could hit it and sound would go away.
and i heard loading the firmware also gets rid of the sound.

you will have to open it to see what is out of place or broken.
you can star to open the umd drive and look for something out of place.

Update to Version 3.80, but be sure to plug in the AC adapter to the PSP first and keep it plugged in.

UMD is Universal Media Disc, its a small disc are used for PSP.  press the "eject" button on the top to open the disc tray. Usually the problem its not from the UMD, but from the console.

The first check the version you are running on psp, >> Go to the PSP Menu and move across to the "Settings Menu". Scroll down, select to "System Settings" >> "System Information" and you should see version of your PSP. If the UMD has a high version than ur console, u need to update ur psp.
