Question about Kitchen Ranges

1 Answer

I have a smooth top electric stove. I accidentally dropped something on it from the cupboard above the stove and put a large chip in it. That chip became a long crack that now goes from the bottom to the top of the stove. Is it still okay to cook on it with a crack down the middle?

Can the cooktop surface of my Kenmore gas range model 790.72903011 be removed

Most stove tops are removable for that very purpose.... after you remove the burners and the grills above the burners.... look for an edge and inch or inch and a half below the top... get something strong like a large screwdriver and place cloth over the tip to prevent scratching the stove top. there are VERY STRONG CLIPS holding the stove top to the stove, pry upward until the clips release. then slowly remove the spark igniter (TAKE A PICTURE WITH YOUR CELL TO REMEMBER HOW PUT BACK TOGETHER)

Dropped it it water?

This happens quite often, someone accidentally drops their camera, mobile phone or whatever electrical device in water.

Always worth trying, but can't guarantee the outcome, some times it works ok, sometimes it doesn't but, it doesn't make anything worse either.

First and most important thing to do is take the batteries out. Straight away as soon as physically possible.

ie;- out of the water , out come the batteries, out come any memory cards.

With luck you've saved it, now open any cover or slots that you can and pour out any water that will come.

Dry it off and take it home then put it in a warm dry place for a few days some where like an airing cupboard or above (not on) a radiator.

Give it time to dry out thoroughly, if there's any mist on the screens, its not ready, then put the batteries back in and give it a go.....................good luck

While oven on range top front is very hot

I do not know the unit but check if the oven vent is near the front. It is also possible the door seal on the top of the door is failing.

My stoves oven is burning my kitchen cupboards

If you could provide some more information, then I may be able to help. What part of the oven is causing the problem, i.e. top or bottom door. If the doors don't shut properly then this may cause the hot air to escape. If it is one of the doors, is it sitting square in the frame?

I have a smooth top range that has enamal edges. On two different occassions I have dropped a LIGHT ceramic salt shaker on the edge and chunks of the enamal have chipped out. I was told this is not...

just the angle of the hit, not the weight of the item, granted a very light wieght item is less likely to cause damage but a large spoon hitting at the proper angle can cause this i know i was the one that did it
time for the touchup paint
