This is a common issue with the laser head in the dvd player. If you can get the model number and find a laser head replacement guide on the internet then you can probably replace the lase your self, ive done it to a few DVD players. On the other hand it might be more cost effective just to buy a new dvd player since they are very inexpensive these days.

My eye lense messed up it dosent go all the way over it keeps retracting itself.

No disc is usually a dirty or bad optical pickup unit. On a portable unit it usually is cheaper to just buy a new one.

Screen reads no disc after loading even though a disc is in. Also sounds like there is rubbing when the disc rotates.

Hi. From what you describe it sounds like the spindle, the part you clip your disc onto, has been pushed down too far and needs to be pulled back up a touch, 2mm approx. images?q=tbn:and9gcsk5rvhv599ebybl98lpb6yljx3-4i0e_7adbhvdacrx2wbx_vs-w Image for clarification only.

Won't play

I have the same player with a similar problem, though the cable is not broken on mine as far as I can tell.

When I put in a disc and close the lid, I can hear the disc spin and the drive seek, but after about 30 seconds, it always shows "NO DISC" in the upper-left area of the screen. I used to use it daily to listen to MP3 audio books on my 45-minute-long drive to and from work every day and I'd occasionally watch DVDs at lunch, but now it does not read any type of disc at all.

After I did a Google search, it seems that Mintek's products are pretty crappy overall and the worst part is that Mintek now appears to be out of business. Their web site, www.mintekdigital.com is now completely gone and there is no current contact information.

It's too bad because I really did like the player's capabilities and relatively long battery life. It came with a remote, a wall charger, a car charger, (cheap) headphones, and a video out to composite video cable. Before I used it on my drive, my son used it in his room because we didn't have a second DVD player and it worked great for him then too.

Will not load

You may be able to have this one serviced, but it also may be time for replacement, as the repair cost are rather high...accordianman
