I used a compaq charger to charge my acer aspire 5050, then when i turned it on the screen went dark barely seeing anything on it

  • Anonymous May 11, 2010

    Chances are you fried something by using a charger that is set at a different power lvl. Did you look at the specs for both charging cables and make sure they were the same. Also, just because the plug in for the computers was the same size it dose not mean that the positive and negative pols of the adapter were the same.

My screen doesnt come on when i boot up my acer aspire 5535

shine a flashlight on the screen when you turn it on and look from different angles. see if you can see a very faint picture. if you can then the backlight has gone bad, and can be ordered on ebay for fairly cheap. if you can't see ANYTHING then more than likely either the graphics card has issues or the screen itself went bad. it's kind of rare for a screen to just go bad like that but i have seen it before.

Why is my acer aspire 5050-5459 continuously restating I can't do anything because when I do it restarts.

The default is for automatic restarts which does not let you see the error message.
  • Power off your computer,
  • turn it on;
  • immediately hit F8 several times a SECOND;
  • You'll get a screen that will have a number of options, one of which is turn off automatic restart. Check that.
  • Now you will get a "blue screen" message that will help diagnose the real problem.

Hope this information will help.

put and external monitor and if fail remains then your gpu is damaged, if monitor goes good then your screen is damage or the video cable, so in that case will require a technician to fix it. good luck

I have an acer aspire 5050 and the computer works fine except for the port that you need to charge the battery. When the battery is low, you plug in the computer and it doesnt read the charger,...

It's has a colder solder or bad connection at the power jack - Acer's are notorious for this problem. It's a bad design. They have a tendencies to break easily if you tug too hard on the cable. The only way to fix this is to dissect the entire laptop and re-solder or replace the power jack.

I was playing a game n my acer 5050 laptop when suddenly the screen went black and wouldent show anything the back light still workis but i cant see any display

Do you know the temp. of the motherboard/graphics card?
Kinda sounds like the actual graphics card got hot, and shut down..... try turning the unit off, letting it sit for around 30 minutes, then turn it back on, and see if the same problem happens.

Try to make it a point to see how hot the bottom of the unit it.

Acer Aspire 5050 screen is blank

Hi, if it works with an external monitor it's more likely an LCD problem. When you push the power button, noting comes up on the main LCD screen? not even the Acer logo etc.?
Did you set your video card to use an external monitor and disabled the primary LCD? If so, you need to go to display settings, advanced and go to ATI Display and make sure that the notebook monitor is on.

Acer aspire 5050 can't turn it on

If you dont see any green lights and you dont hear any boot up sounds ( hd, fans, etc) try to take out battery and just plug in the AC adapter to a known good power outlet. Make sure your power plug is good too. If you hear boot-up sounds, see green lights but no display then toggle on the "fn" key and or try on an external monitor.
