If you feel confident take the monitor back cover off and replace the 3 bulged out capacitors

Sounds like the monitor took a power surge. Monitor is probably bad but try hooking up the power to the monitor on a different power outlet and see if it turns on, if not then the monitor is bad and would need to be replaced.

maybe the fuse in the plug socket, maybe the monitor is knackered, maybe a faulty connection to the monitor the computer lead or power lead, if all listed above fail then chuck it in the bin!!
