Question about Rousseau Watches

2 Answers

I just bought a two-position winder for my automatic watches. The SUG is fully wound and functional. I can't get the Rousseau to run? Any suggestions??? Lee Frederick Winfield, IL

I can go to the Rousseau site myself. This advice was not of any value.

Hello Lee. Most likely it needs an internal cleaning. Take it to most any good jewelry shop where they do bench work. Get an estimate and if it is too high go to another one. J.

Can you give me an acceptable range for cleaning an automatic watch? I've dropped it off at my local jeweler to take a look at it.

    Thanks.

Why doesn't it keep running?

It needs to be worn to self wind. I actually bought a winding box so I put watch away it will be turned as if on your wrist. These vary and having owned a couple of winders I chose one that is belt driven, found on Amazon.
if you wear it to sleep it may wind down.
Playing video games ,little wrist motion, may find it stopped.
you mentioned someone to.d you it was fully wound! How can they tell. I cannot wind mine if yours needs winding from stem you may not have real Rollex.

What kind of watch winder do I need for this watch

You have selected a wonderful watch... Heuer and TAG/Heuer should be gently wound by the motion of the human wrist and the falling of a centrally pivoting weight (there is no ideal direction).

AUTO-WIND function is NOT at all unique to your watch...

After a couple of CHEAPER "winders" failed me... and after I figured about 4 watches was more than enough to keep wound... I found the greatest BASIC watch winder... to run year over year (efficiently and quietly)

MTE watch winder (their very basic WTS-4).

Good luck: I WILL try to include the URL (see page 6)

Why does the time stop after six to eight hours? Do I have to wind it often?

I'm guessing it's a Fully Automatic watch, which if worn all day should store enough 'kenetic energy'without manual winding!! You can buy watch winders on eBay that constantly move the watch when your not wearing it to keep it wound up!!

Watch will not wind and will not run or keep time. It appears to have over wound itself.

Not possible. The assumption that a watch is fully wound and then doesn't run is because the watch is over wound is invalid. The correct assumption is the watch has been fully wound and the watch has a problem. Could be anything. Automatic winding watches have a mainspring that slips or acts as a clutch when fully wound to avoid breaking from continuous winding.

It stops working it will not stay on the correct time

This watch is a self winder and thrives on being used. When fully wound, they should run for 2-3 days and if they run right down then they need to be wound up and used to maintain operation.

I am not sure if this watch can be manually wound but try turning the crown in a clockwise direction. If this is not possible, to wind it up, wave it from side to side for a few minutes (200-300 times) and his should wind it sufficiently to run for a day or so.

Wearing the watch daily is sufficient to keep it going.

I stop using mi nixon watch " THE 51-30" for a month and now it doesnt work.

Your watch is an automatic type which means that it is a mechanical self winding watch powered by a spring. It is wound up by a weight that moves when you are walking about and this watch must be worn to keep it operating.

If not worn, these watches will stop in 2 -3 days because the spring has run down.

Some automatic watches can be wound using the crown wheel (winder) but if yours cannot be wound in this way, then swing it from side to side gently for a few minutes and the watch will wind up.

These watches thrive on being used.

Tag Heuer Tiger Wood Golf WAE1111.FT6004 Watch stops when not worn. Is there a problem

Hi,

An automatic watch needs to be worn, wound daily or placed on a watch winder to keep it going. It is not like a quartz watch that has a battery and can keep going when not worn. A modern automatic watch will run for about 36 - 48 hours on a full wind.

A quartz watch that stops like you describe is in need of a cleaning by a professional watchmaker. When this stopping occurs it is an indication the oils have dried out and the warmth from your body heats them so they are semi liquid again and the watch runs. but when the watch cools again the oils harden and the watch stops.

Hope this helps,

2003 deer pocket watch Al Agnew is it wind up or Battery

Often with battery powered watches the word "Quartz" will be written on the dial. In the abscent of that you can look at the mechanism inside (typically by removing the case back).

Alternately (this may not be an absolute confirmation) with the winder in neutral position i.e. pressed all the way in, turn the crown (winding button) and if it spins freely it's probably quartz. Because unless it's broken most mechanical watches click as the watch is
wound up (except some automatics which cant be crown wound).

Plus if it's working and left unworn for a few days yet continues to run it's probably quartz.
Please rate this solution.

Breitling watch winder rotations requirments

The watch should last 36 hours from fully wound. If your wearing the watch and using a watch winder and its still stopping, you have a problem with the mechanism. Get it serviced. (its probably just a clean and oil req'd)
