I would like to restrict any color documents being printed on the C300. We have it setup to enter a password for colored copies, but not when you are printing. Can this be restricted?

You will need to enter the admin mode, User Authenication/Account track & select either user authentication settings or account track settings depending on which you have setup ( you can check this by going into the general settings in user auth/account track ).
Once in your chosen method select the user/s you wish to restrict and select edit.
Select output permissions and set colour to restrict and ok.
Do the same for each person you wish to restrict.
Once done you will need to go into the 'Print Without Authentication' button and select Restrict.
When you have done this you will need to add the users information and passwords into the print driver for the C300 for each users pc.
You do this by going into start, settings, printers, select the C300 & right click, select properties, go into printing preferences & select 'Authentication/Account track', enter the user name & password into the relevent boxes (either account track or user auth depending on what you have setup) and then hit ok & apply.
Do this for ALL USERS.

The settings should now be saved permanently and if the user selects colour and they are restricted it will not let them print.

Hope this helps.

I want ti print in color only, how do i do that,?Lexmark X1240 All-In-One InkJet Printer

On your computer, with your file open (your document/picture, etc. that you wish to print), click File > Print. From Print dialog box, click Properties, Preferences, Options, or Setup (depending on the program). The Print Properties dialog box appears. From the Quality/Copies tab, make sure there is no check mark in the "Print Color images in Black and White ". Then hit OK button to save the setting. Once you print your colored document/pictures, etc, it should come out in color.
I hope this helps.

Fault/error a fault has occured switch off the machine . ensure that the screen desappears before swithing it on. it the problem persists, call for service. 124-315

Solution : Perform an Automatic Gradation Adjustment (Color Calibration) Automatic Gradation Adjustment compensates for tones when the color tones shift in color copies / prints. Compensating for color tones maintains the quality of color copies / prints made by the machine at a fixed level.

NOTE: Output of the Automatic Gradation Adjustment chart is added to the metered copy count.

NOTE: When Gradation Adjustment is selected, the following changes will be made to default copy settings set in System Settings mode:
  • Copy Density = Normal or Auto
  • Color Shift =Normal
  • Saturation = Normal
  • Color Balance = 0
  • Sharpness = 0
  1. Press the [Access] button (key symbol) on the Control Panel. The Access button is located above the number "3" on the numeric keypad.

  2. Using the numeric keypad, enter your administrator password and select [Confirm] on the Touch Screen. The System Administration Menu screen will be displayed.

NOTE: If you do not know the password, contact your administrator. The initial password at machine install is 11111. If the administrator encounters a problem with changing the password, or forgets the password, a service call must be placed.

  3. Select [System Settings]. The System Settings screen will be displayed.
  4. Select [System Settings] again.
  5. Select [Common Settings].
  6. Select [Image Quality]. The Image Quality Adjustment screen displays.
  7. Select [Automatic Gradation Adjustment].
  8. Load 8.5 x 11 inch (216 mm x 279 mm) or A4 (210 mm x 297 mm / 8.3 x 11.7 inch) paper in Tray 5 (Bypass Tray). Adjust the paper tray edge guide so that the guide gently touches the edge of the paper stack.
  9. Select the desired gradation adjustment screen.
  10. Press [Start]. The Adjustment Chart is output.

NOTE: When printing the color chart for Auto Gradation and you get the message,'Auto Graduation Procedure has completed with an error' make sure that 8.5 x 11 inch (216 mm x 279 mm) paper is loaded into Tray 5 Long Edge Feed (LEF).

  11. Place the Adjustment Chart face-down on the Document Glass with both the Magenta color patches against the left side of the glass.
  12. Place 5 sheets of white paper on top of the Adjustment Chart and close the Document Glass Cover.
  13. Press [Start].
  14. To continue Automatic Gradation Adjustment with other screens, repeat steps 6 to 10. When you are finished, select [Close] until the System Settings screen is displayed.
  15. Select [Exit] to exit the System Settings mode.
Hope it helps!
