The Ricoh has toner and developer. When the developer is depleted it can not get to the right density when toner is added so the machine keeps saying to add toner. You need to clean out the developer unit and put in new developer. Depending upon your model you may need to install a drum and blade too. Ricoh technicians are trained to dissemble the unit and just replace the parts needed instead of getting a whole drum/developer unit. Did you run the copier with out adding toner for awhile? If so, it is going to have to catch up with the toner level it had before or it may need a developer change. The toner level may be to low to regain it's amout of toner again. It may be a coastly venture with running the copier with out toner.. Good Luck...
