Whenever I am watching a movie or playing a game and there is a sudden increase in volume (such as an explosion) the volume lowers suddenly to "normalize" it. After a few seconds it returns back to normal volume. I've scoured through the settings on my TV, the Xbox 360 and the PS3 and have found nothing that fixes the problem.

Hi Metallica309

A lot of flat screens have pretty over-reactive 'normalising' controls. I have a Wharfedale flat-screen which 'compresses' any extra sound to the point where it's impossible to understand speech.
Start by hitting 'Menu' on the tv - then select 'Sound' - then lookout for AVL (Auto Volume Level) or 'Normalise'. DESELECT the AVL.

O.K. - so it's going to sound louder for explosions and quieter for whispers - but that's what real life is really like !

You may have similar settings hidden away on your other devices - do the same with them. The cumulative effect of a string of devices (all with AVL on) leads to auto audio mayhem.

Try it - and good luck.

Hi, i have a Denon PMA 735 R amplifier which shuts down when volume increases suddenly.

Sounds like you have output transistor problems. Does it have a red protection light that comes on when it shuts down? If it does it will need serviced.

Problem watching movies & playing games(screen flashes black on & off

HI
This may not help, but you can try to lower the resloution to another widescreen format.
I'm thinking you may have your resolution maxed out and the video card is having problems with the movie games because of that. Possibly not enough video memory
Movies will work fine at lower resolutions, Not sure about all the games but they probably will too.

HAVE TO UP VOLUME ON DENON 2106 TO HEAR ALL AUDIO IN NIGHT MODE

There should be a volume adjust on the center channel. This is done by the remote exclusively. You may also wish to compress the sound using the dynamic range compression button or so labeled.
