How come my tnd 500 will not turn on and its fully charged?

Try pressing the reset button on the back or the side of the TND. If it still will not power on contact Rand McNally support. Be sure to have your serial number handy, (back of TND, bottom right)

    Rand McNally has amazingly improved their customer support. Call 800-333-0136. They will try to fix the problem or issue you RMA if your unit is still under warranty.

Hello,

Have you plugged the device in using the wall and\or vehicle charger? When plugged in does the charge indicator light come on? If the charge light does not come on the then device is not getting power. The USB port could have malfunctioned but it can be repaired.

If the charge light is coming on then the device should power on using the power button or by resetting it using the reset button on the back of the device.

My suggestion is to call Rand McNally technical support. An engineer can perform a more in depth diagnostics and provide a solution.

Tnd 700 shows power but screen wont come on
Regarding our TND 500 we never fixed our problems. Needless to say, it was out of warranty for about a month and the company really was no help. I am sorry I am unable to help, but we just gave up on the issues with ours. We went out and bought a Garmin. Good luck to you.

On my TND 510 Rand McNally is saying application navi.exe encountered a serious error and must shut down and the message won't go away
they do that so you will go by a new one by a cobra end of head aches

Rand is working on this. A new version may be available soon that addresses this issue.

Downloaded new update now GPS will not work at all!
Need details... What's not working? The unit doesn't boot up or you can't route because it says your map files are expired?
If it says your map file are expired, you will have to call Ray Allen @ RM Tech Support at 877-446-4863 and have them email you a new navigation.lic file.
It goes in the navi/user folder and reboot. reconnect to computer and delete the bin and layout folders, reboot, reconnect to dock and update it via the TND Dock software.
If that does not work, they will have to send you an SD memory card with a new program on it to install into the TND 500. This will erase EVERYTHING and restore to an "out of the box" condition.

When i push to calculate route the screen gets stuck on "calculating" and won't do anything.
You have a corrupted trip.db file.

1. connect the TND to the computer and turn the TND on.
2. go to your start menu and press on (my) computer
3. look for an external drive called intelliroute.
4. look on the drive(s) for a folder called Navi
5. double click on the Navi folder.
6. You should see a folder called User.
7. double click on the user folder.
8. You should see a file called Trip.db.
9. left click once on trip.db, then right click and delete.
10. disconnect your TND from the computer and enter a route in.

it should operate fine now.

The TND 500 displays "Fatal Application Error" and will not restart. I have connected it to the internet to get the latest updates from Rand McNally. Still will not start. At bottom of error messgae is the...

The download did not go correctly. You have a unit that is
missing or has incomplete files. Contact Rand Support and they will send you an
update card. It will not delete your user data and it will upgrade you to the
current version and with new maps. Be sure to have the serial number off the

My new tdn 500 does not turn on and it is fully charged?it does not even communicate with the computer.what do i do?
