It would be helpful to know what internet browser you are using, but typically you can enable/disable Java in your internet options or preferences.

For example:
I am using Mozilla Firefox, so from the "Edit" menu I choose "Preferences". I then choose the "Content" tab. Under that tab is a checkbox specifically to enable/disable Java.

I suspect that for Internet Explorer there will be a similar situation. I believe that it would be under the tools menu under options.

Good luck,

James

If you haven't figured it out now, you might want to try downloading the latest JRE from sun microsystem's website.

www.java.com is one way to get there.

Pogo.com want load at all...just a blinking screen

Hello there and welcome to fixya
If games on Pogo don't load for you, load very slowly, or give errors such as 'Please wait, Loading,' see below for information on the most common causes (and links to instructions on how to address them). It could be as simple as clearing your Java Cache or Browser Cache, or it could be related to other programs such as firewalls and anti-virus programs

First, let's try to rule out some specific issues (If you're a Mac user, please try this FAQ.):
  • If you are trying to play one of our Flash games, like Poppit!, Word Whomp, Mahjong Safari, Family Feud, Claire Hart: Soul Searcher, just to list a few, and they will not load then you may need to install the latest version of Flash. To install the latest version of Flash simply go here and follow the instructions - http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/
  • Does the game that won't load have a Weekly Challenge going on, especially on Wednesdays?

If you can rule the above issues out, here are the next troubleshooting steps to try:
If Java is installed on your machine but not enabled

If you're still having issues and you're certain that Java is installed on your machine, it may be disabled. All mainstream browsers have an option for enabling Java, which ensures any applets that use it will function properly. For a complete list of per-browser instructions for enabling Java, visit http://www.java.com/en/download/help/enable_browser.xml.

Here's what to do if clearing your java cache/browser cache and making sure your Java is updated, doesn't resolve the issue.

Anti-Virus Programs/Firewalls and Pogo

The most common causes of problems that players encounter when playing our games are simply caused by anti-virus, firewall, ad blocking, and pop-up blocking software. The easiest way to determine if one or more of these is the cause of the problem is to simply disable them and see if the problem goes away. If the problem goes away, then the next step is to figure out how to configure the software to still protect your system without preventing you from playing our games. In this case, you should refer to the software's manual or help files for detailed instructions on how to make the desired changes to the software.

Some common symptoms of this include:
  • "Cripes!" Errors
  • "Server too Busy" Errors
  • Cards disappear or do not appear
  • Other graphics do not appear or are distorted
  • "Game Loading" indicator never goes away
  • Profiles never appear
  • Table windows never open

There are also several types of maintenance steps that can be taken on a regular basis to try and prevent problems from occurring. This includes deleting Temporary Internet Files / Browser Cache and deleting Game Objects. We only officially support a few browsers as they are the most common and compatible with our site. They are: Internet Explorer 8 and 9, Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome, and Safari for Mac OS X (and later versions of these browsers as applicable). If you do a search on the help site for "Cache," you will find instructions on how to clear the cache for those browsers.

It keeps saying enable javascript which I did and it still will not install

The first thing to try is to uninstall and reinstall Java.

1. Enter Windows key + R, which will open the Run dialog box.
2. Type APPWIZ.CPL into the dialog box and click OK.
3. Wait for the Programs and Features (Vista and 7) or Add and Remove Program (XP) page to completely load.
4. Scroll down looking for any JAVA installations.
5. Select and remove any and all JAVA installations.
6. Restart computer if necessary.
7. Follow this link to install the latest version of JAVA: http://www.java.com/en/download/index.jsp
8. Click "Free Java Download" and download Java.
9. Install Java and restart computer if necessary.

Note: If you have difficulty downloading and installing Java, then try and use Internet Explorer to install Java.

Hopefully this fixes your problem. If it doesn't, then please post back.
Good luck and thanks for using FixYa.

For some unknown reason java wont stay on my computer i need it for a games site cant get into any game i was told to download www.filehippo.com/download JRE32/

Go to www [dot] java [dot] com and run the test for "do I have JAVA." Let the site install Java for you if you discover your version is missing or out-of-date. Best to go straight to the source to get the JAVA! This will also install the automatic check & update monitor option so that your JAVA is always the latest & greatest! Do a virus and malware scan to be sure that some nefarious rogue demon isn't interfering with or removing your JAVA! This has been known to happen.

To enable Java in my browser, I followed your instructions, only problem I had was that there was no ASP in the menue. Am I missing something here? Also, how do I make sympatico.ca my home page? That to...

To enable Java, assuming that it is installed: Open IE, click Tools, Internet Options and then Programs tab and Manage Add-ons. Find the Java add-on and ensure that it is enabled. Once enabled, you will have to restart your browser. To make a site your homepage, navigate to it and then click Tools, Internet Options and on the first page there is a Home Page box and under it click the button that says Use Current Page. Then OK out to the browser.
