All the Emachine's I worked with have a Restore Partition .... might try that first.... after the boot screen hit the F8 key and look for an option called Directory Restore Service.... if you still want the Ethernet Controller Driver try a program called Unknown Device Identifier you can find it on download.com it can help you find the manufacturer and model for your devices ...might be a good start
You are on the right track! It sounds like you still need to download and install the LAN driver. When you go to THIS website you will see the third file you can download is the LAN Driver - Nvidia Ethernet Driver.
After you install the driver and restart your computer should detect if you are connected to the internet via LAN cable.
Hope this helps! Please let me know if this information was helpful!
there is a downloadable ZIP file for the VGA adapter for Windows XP.
Download that file, and copy it to a USB memory-stick.
Take the memory-stick to your eMachines system, and copy the file.
Then, right-mouse-click on the copy, and choose 'Extract All'.
Then, install from the un-ZIP'd files.

Many drivers can be downloaded and burned to a CD or transferred to a external memory source. They are usually compacted files that need to be extracted which can be done on your PC that doesn't have internet after downloading them on a different computer and transferring them to an alternate memory source. Simply download the drivers and transfer them to a jump drive or burn them to a CD and then run them from the other PC.
There is a software disc that all drivers are free gift from Emachines, provided that this CDs is still on your hands. Use that Software Disc Utility to install unknown LAN or Ethernet Device in your Emachines Desktop. If your don't have that Disc then you download that freeware LAN drivers to the website manufacturer of Acer Emachines. Or maybe you don't finish yet installing all devices such as VGA, & etc... Click this link to open browser: www.acer.com It's very easy to find out there. Good luck!
You need to go to:
control panel
-system
-hardware
-device manager
-network drivers
if there is an exclamation mark within a yellow sign .. this means your driver is not installed and your network card will not work untill you get the driver installed which will identify to your motherboard that the device is network card.
I would suggest going to google and search the motherboard model number for drivers and go to the e-machines website or actual manufactuer website for genuine drivers then install it. The device should work.
