Well, I would try to 'restore' to an earlier time when the speakers did work, or 'recover' to factory settings so the computer can install the appropriate driver for your built in sound card on the laptop.

Hi , Im trying to make my external volume controler work om my Aer 4520. Its a litlle ring that puts volume up and donwn

Ebv65,

External speakers for your laptop are very easy to hook up. They should plug right in to the external speaker outlet on the laptop. Your acer 4520 has a Headphone/speaker/line-out jack with S/PDIF support. First you need to check all your volume levels within the control panel (located in the sounds and devices folder) to make sure they are up. This solve your problem. Thanks for visiting Fixya.com. Have a great day.

My audio device is installed but it shows that no audio device is installed.

if your computer came with a motherboard disc the sound drivers could be on it

the speakers plug/outlet is usually at the back of the computer you will have to open up the computer to check the lead attached to the rear of the input plug make sure the connection is good
try cleaning your computer of dust using a fine air blower from a compressor making VERY sure that there is no MOISTURE in the air line specifically around the sound card and the CPU central processing unit dust causes static to build up in a computer

Im using acer aspire 4520 with windows xp... i also tried alot of SO my problem is that audio device doesn't work... i install audio driver.. sometimes it works and sometimes don't so when i finally get it...

I would first try to check for viruses and spyware. This is one of the major causes of sound issues. If everything else is ok with this laptop, then it sounds like your audio card might have a problem. Howver you might also have a problem with your speakers. Try connecting external speakers to you computer. If they work then it's your speakers. You can purchase those online from Ebay.

My speakers do not work

try to hook an external speaker or earfphones or headset if its working or not. if not then you should update audio driver for this one, or even need to change sound card. but if it has sound, replace the internal speakers.

I need Aspire 4520 wifi software, it was not working when i used

Ok.. This is the downloads site for ACER support site.
ftp://ftp.work.acer-euro.com/notebook/aspire_4520/vista/Drivers
However there are two wireless LAN drivers in that directory. You should find out which one is yours. To do this click start->right-cllcik on computer. When the system window opens click on device manager located under tasks on the left hand side. When the device manager opens double-click on network adapters and one of the two devices(Atheros wireless LAN or Broadcom wireless LAN) will be listed. Download the respective driver and your wireless would be up and runnin'

No sound devices on laptop

This is most likely a simple driver glitch. You can fix it by uninstalling the audio drivers from the device manager, then reboot. The machine will find the sound card and reinstall the drivers automatically. This should fix it, if not let me know.
