This may be a handful of reasons... check these posts for laptop repair manuals and diagnostics procedures and see if any of them fits your laptop's symptoms... or you may just be looking at a loose wire that should go away once you re-connect the plugs coming from the LCD onto the motherboard. If you're lucky it may just be a software issue that should be solved if you update your graphic card drivers.
