I am unable to unscrew the bottom piece to keep the mic attached to the shock mount as well as the middle section to get inside the mic. I keep the mic in the case it came in when I'm not recording, in my house which stays around 70 degrees. I haven't tried to unscrew the main part until today so I don't know how long that has been stuck. The bottom part I screw and unscrew between each use. After I couldn't unscrew the bottom I tried to unscrew the main part with no luck. I've been struggling with this for about 30 minutes now, any ideas?? Thank you in advance for any insight!

Since I can't find a DI box on Rode's web site, are you perhaps talking about the power supply for the K2 tube microphone? If so, it sounds like you have a powersuply that is broken.
Since you have proven that your mke is working OK, how about the power supply it's self? If you swap your friend's and your power supply, does his mike work?
If so, then you may have a bad input on your mixer. If not, then your power supply is bad. If it is, I would reccomend that you check with Rode about warranty and or RMA repair.

Microscopic dust particles can cause problems if mics are left out for long periods. It is common practice to put a plastic bag over it if leaving on a stand. My best advice is to put it in the airing cupboard for a day or two to dry out any residual moisture, which may be sticking the diaphragm to the back plate.

It sounds like you have done everything right. It would be a good idea to check both the mic and Protools system separately. If you can, verify that the mic works using another device such as a mixer. Also try getting a level into Protools using another mic, preferably a dynamic which doesn't require phantom power. If you are trying to use an original MBOX under Windows 7 or the latest version of OSX then it may not work at all.
