Question about Thermador SGS36GS Gas Cooktop

1 Answer

I need a part of the switch assembly on our gas cooktop. On the side of the part it has "402 A 131 11A 125-250 VAC 1/3 HP 125-250 VAC". This part initiates the spark to ignite the burner when the handle is turned. I need one of these. Thanks, Bob

Only 1 igniter on my Maytag MGC6430 Gas Cooktop sparks. It is on the lower wight (on the control knobs side). The other three burners do not spark at all but they can be lit with a match. Seems unlikely...

YOU MAY HAVE A BAD INFINITE SWITCH AND AS THEY ARE WIRED IN SERIES THE OTHERS WILL NOT WORK , BUT ONE SWITCH MAY WORK. DEPENDING ON ORDER OF WIRING. YOU MAY ALSO WANT TO CHECK THE WIRE HARNESS AS IT MAY BE BAD.

Spill water on cook top by gas knobs. now the igniter is clicking on all the time with the knobs in the off position

Each of the knobs has a little white rotary switch on it's shaft below the cooktop. You've likely got water in one of those switches and it's making the connection in the switch to start the igniter circuit. Unplug/turn off the breaker to the unit. If it's just water and not a sauce or noodle water or something else impure, you may be able to let it dry out without too much trouble. You could try pulling off the knobs and sucking at the openings with a wet/dry vac to try to get more water out of the switches. The worry is corrosion from being wet too long. If it isn't working after drying out, you'll need a new set of switches. http://www.appliancepartspros.com/part_details.aspx?part_id=3185909

Can i install bosch cooktop in a 26-1/2 by 19-1/2

No you will not be able to put in that cut out. The reason why is you will have 2 inches on each side or 4 inches on one side.

Ignitors keep making ticking sound, all burners turned off, won't go in lock position, and one burner will not ignite gas despite constant ticking

Probably a spillage or boil over has clogged the burner and some of the liquid has dampened the shank switch mounted on the burner post. Get a shop vac and clean the burner. Wait a day or 2 and see if the switch stops. OR disable the ticky ticky by removing the bottom drawer and looking for the spark module. Remove one of the hot wires and tape it up. Light the burners like granny does with a match. LOL

Ticking sound from GE cooktop igniter

Under each gas control is a switch that will turn on the spark module when rotated to the light position. One or more of these switches has failed. Some models these switches are individually replaceable, others the switch is an assembly of all four.

Propane to Natural Gas Conversion

on the regulator there is a 1/2" nut, made of aluminum. loosen the nut, thur it around and screw it back in, there is a "NAT" on one side, and a "LP" on the other side, make sure the "LP" is facing out if you are using propane, and "NAT", if you are using Natural Gas. Very simple, all you need is a 1/2" wrench, or a small adjustable wrench,
