Question about Dyson DC07 Bagless Upright Cyclonic Vacuum

Dyson DC07 Original won't pick up at base

It looks as if the belt is not turning, but there is no suction at the base of the vacuum cleaner, either. The attachments have good suction, but the base has none. I have checked all areas of the vacuum cleaner for blockages, but there are none. The brushes have been cleaned, so turning would not be obstructed by debris. The filter has been cleaned.

Lie machine on its side pull back handle as if vacuuming & switch on (KEEP YOUR FINGERS & ANY LOOSE CLOTHING CLEAR OF BRUSH ROLLER)

Brush should spin if it doesnt ensure clutch control knob on side of machine is in drive position if it isnt rotate knob by hand to drive brush should now spin.

If it doesnt & your machine has A clutch either clutch will need replacing or belts will need replacing.

Manuals are available to replace belts & remove the clutch from this site

Dyson Animal not picking up What can be wrong?

Hello, this is Ava with Think Crucial.

Most of the time the reason why vacuum is not picking up is due to loss of suction. You may need to check for blockages of your wand and hose. Remove the wand and hose from your cleaner when checking for blockages and any damages. Make sure to turn off and unplug your vacuum from the power before doing this. Please refer to this troubleshooting guide for more information on how you can remove blockages:

No suction from base but from hose have checked all on your page the roller brush turns well but no suction - not an old machine DC07 but been dropped. have checked all hoses & filters.

Hi there,

I'm sorry to hear you're having difficulties with your DC07. If you have suction from the hose but not through the cleaner head, it sounds as if you may have a blockage somewhere. Although I note you've already checked for this, you might want to take a look at our support guide to ensure you haven't missed anything:

If the machine has been dropped, you may also want to check that the internal hose is still firmly attached to the machine at both ends, and is not split or damaged in any way. The video linked below shows where this hose is located, and how to replace it if necessary:

Hopefully this should allow you to resolve your issue without further assistance. However, if the internal hose appears to be correctly fitted and undamaged, and you cannot find any blockages, but still feel the cleaner is not picking up as well as it should do, please get in touch with us directly. One of our experts will be happy to provide the assistance you need. You can call us free on 08002980298 (UK), or 1866MYDYSON (US).

Kind regards,

I have a Dyson DC07 and it has lost suction. I have checked the belt, cleaned the circular filter and emptied the dirt chamber. The hose still has plenty of suction but I can't use the hose the vacuum...

Here are some things you can check.First you need to see if the problem is with the suction or agitation. If the suction on the hose for using the attachments is low you either need new filters a new cyclone(they are not cleanable) or it is clogged. To check for a clogg remove the cyclone and turn on the vacuum can put your hand over the suction side of the handle tub and feel if it has suction there.Reinstall the cyclone and again check the hose.If it is the same you don't likley have a suction problem you have an agitation problem. The 2 belts on the DC07 are part of the clutch and when they are strectched to a certain point (3-5years) the clutch needs to be can check the clutch by turning on the vacuum cleaner and applying slight pressure downward on the front of the vacuum head.If the vacuum makes a loud ratcheting noise or you can stop the brush from turning the problem is most likely the clutch. One last thing is to make sure the bottom plate is on correctly I often see a misaligned bottom plate and the brush dosen't hit the carpet so it dosen't pick up.

My dyson dosent have much suction and not picking up

Check if the roller brush is turning, if not you may have a snapped belt,, caused usually by the roller brush jamming so is it free. Then suspect a blockage in the pipe or base ducting. I would also make sure the filters are clean , replace them if in dought.

The suction still works but the primary floor vacuum doesn't. I checked the belt and its not broken. The engine that runs the floor vacuum doesn't engage like it used to

The belt doesn't have to be broken to affect the the way the vacuum picks up on carpet. If the belt is stretched then it will slip and not turn the roller brush properly. Here is the manual and belts you need:

The roller for my dyson does not turn and it does not pick up anything. Howevever, the hose suction is fine and I have checked all the places for dust blockages.

That means that the belt is stretched, worn or broken. You need to replace the belt. You can get replacement belts and view the manual with instructions here:
