When taken out of scene mode - the camera no longer takes pictures - what happened right before the breakdown was: I was was zooming in (or out) on a subject - when the camera refused to stay on the desired distance, it would automatically zoom in all the way - i am at a loss....PLEASE HELP - thanks Steve

I have the same problem. It either tells me to set the clock or scrolled through scene options without stopping, or zooms until can't and freezes in this mode. I was taking photos and it happened mid shoot. I have tried air and wonder if someone can instruct how to take apart and clean. I suspect the zoom lever.

Sounds like the button or direction joystick is making continuous contact. You could try using canned air on it to blow it out. Otherwise i would get it professionally cleaned. Nice camera by the way.

Just finished charging the battery of my Panasonic DMC-LX2. Attempted to turn on my camera but it doesn't work. The battery is completely charged and this has never happened before.

Hello....I have the same issue with my Panasonic Lumix DMC-FS5 camera we bought 3 years ago. All of a sudden the camera doesn't work. I have had many cameras and I have never seen this before. I will think twice about buying a panasonic again.

I have a Panasonic DMC-LX2 digital camera, I'm based in the UK. Has worked fine for a couple of years, but 2 weeks ago, when powered up, none of the buttons work. Screen is illuminated, lens emerges OK,...

I just got identical situation today, and I have no clue at all. However, I figure that the camera is actually working busy like someone is holding the "UP" button continuously. To see this, power on your camera at any mode except the "Scene mode". After it's on, turn the mode select knob to "Scene mode". I saw my camera menu flashing like crazy. When you press any button, the menu should stop running. But once you don't press the button, the menu start running again.
Please let me know if you have any update.

Can't get the sports scene to work? Just takes

The sports scene just selects a faster shutter speed and higher ISO to stop the action. It only takes one picture at a time. If you want a burst of pictures, you need to go into the "record" menu and scroll to "burst" and follow the on-screen instructions.

SD card download to PC

You can download the software CD from Panasonic website.

You should however, be able to transfer images to your computer using a USB cable, and exploring the device in my computer.

Lumix dmc lx2

Does the menu show up on the screen, or is it totally black?
Does the camera take pictures and behaves as normal (apart from black screen ;)?

If the menu shows up then I'm afraid it's most probably something serious- like dead CCD or failed shutter (probably the latter-LX2s are not famous for failing CCDs). Failed shutter is easy to identify. You would normally hear a faint mechanical"click" when taking a picture (make sure you disable sounds in your camera). If you can't hear anything then the shutter might be dead. In cases like this I normally suggest getting a donor camera from ebay and replacing the lens (the shutter assembly is inside the lens but it's much easier to replace the whole lens).
Good luck,
Raf

Dmc lx2

Hi, sounds like a problem with the shutter. If it is not functioning correctly, the camera usually produces a picture with lines in it. It will have to be serviced by a professional tech.

Camera doesn't respond

Hey bro I have exactly the same problem, when i turn on the damn thing it just zooms right out and just keeps scrolling through the options. I think that it has to be some sort of software problem, there must be a way to reset it!
