Depending on whats inside your lens it is likely to be either:
1) The light filter has jammed or the ribbon connecting it has broken.
2) solenoid for the apperture shutters has jammed or lost power.
I fix Fuji's and Samsung's mainly so couldn't say for certain exactly.
Go to the home page of your camera. Look up what you need, download it and install if necessary.
It appears you want to download pictures to the camera. Another way to download your pictures is with a card reader at most electronics stores, including Radio Shack, Best Buy, Office Max, and so on.
Actually, if you're using XP you should not need the disc at all to shoot & download images.
If you're looking for software so you can crop & that sort of thing, I recommend googles Picasa program, its free.
To download images without the disc simply connect the camera like you have in the past and XP will find the device & walk you thru downloading images, usually.
If not, click on "my computer" and you should find your camera/device listed there.
Personally, I use a card reader and take my memory card out and download the images using the reader.
