Sounds like your onboard receiver is blown. Try wiring a external receiver onto your garage door motor. What make of garage door motor you using?

Well, I don't think that disconnecting the garage door from the garage door opener would affect function.

The lightning strike could have destroyed the circuitry inside the garage door opener, seeing that it won't operate with the wall switch or remotes.

It's likely that a board was fried by the lightning which would render the garage door inoperable.

The garage door opener would be rendered inoperable by the lighting strike, rather.

Why does the door status button flashes? door not function too...

Sound like the garage door opener is in "locked" mode. Look for a lock button and press/hold it to see if the light becomes solid. Some wall remotes have a sliding switch for this instead of a button. The garage door opener should operate normally after the lock mode is cleared.

Make sure the green light in the wall control is not flashing. That locks out the remote. If it is press and hold for 3 seconds the lock button on the wall control. It could just be that your remote has failed.

How to set garage door opener

Hi,

Find where the antenna comes out of the garage door opener motor and look for either a learn button or a set of switches. (You may need to remove the lens cover from the motor head). If the antenna is not found, look for a wall-mounted external receiver with antenna. It should also have a removable cover.

To program using the learn function, push the learn button on the garage door opener motor. An indicator light should turn on and glow steadily. You now have 30 seconds.

Press and hold the corresponding learn button on the remote. Stop once the motor light blinks instead of remaining solid.

To program a switch-type opener, again take the cover off of the motor unit or wall mounted receiver (wherever the antenna is located). You should see either 8, 9, or even 12 switches that may have two or three positions each.

Open the battery cover on your remote to locate the remote switches. For every switch on the motor, set the remote switch to the exact same position. Open = Off / Closed = On. This is where the pen or small screwdriver may come in handy for moving the switches.

Close the battery cover and test the opener. If all switches match, it should work immediately.

I hope this helps.

Good luck.

I would pull the logic board and check for burnt or missing traces on the printed circuit. Garage door openers hate electrical storms. I really doubt it got to your start capacitor.
