my friend has just bought a Hannspree monitor and a Windows core Vista desktop modem and they keep getting black and blue screen errors, saying there is a problem with the start up? how can they fix this? Could it be the monitor isn't compatible

  • Neichi May 05, 2008

This is onboard video card, not separate from board.

when connecting to any computer 90% of the time I get RGB no input signal......

  • Anonymous May 11, 2010

Neichi, are you hooking up the monitor to the onboard video card and if so, is there a bus docked video card?

Mitch, it could be that it is not compatible or it could be that they need to find the correct drivers for the monitor.

Neichi could this monitor be set to receive dvi signals and not rgb even if he has the rgb hooked into the monitor? so in menu select rgb input?

Mitch, monitors don't conflict with windows generally usually they(windows os) will install a basic generic driver to run the monitor, and you should do this when changing monitors before you hook up the new one, your description really lacks any concrete description where are the "black and blue errors" what do they look like last I have had problems with modems interfering with video so I would remove the modem and see if the problem goes away.

Trying to hook my home PC into my LG TV gets me the message Invalid Format, what can I do to get the signal or can i use this tv for my monitor with a dell PC

Connect VGA (D-sub 15 pin) cable from PC to TV (RGB PC) input jack. Connect audio cable from PC to TV. Set screen resolution on PC to be compatible with TV, such as 800 X 600 or 1024 X 768 etc. Select on the TV, the PC INPUT using the TV remote when ready to use as monitor.

Under PICTURE on the TV select SCREEN (RGB-PC). You can AUTO-CONFIG or you can set resolution manually to the same you set PC to. Other adjustments can be done here as well to get optimum picture on TV from PC.

Try another cable, or check the plug for bent pins. If they are all good, check that the monitor is set for VGA input (if it supports VGA and DVI) as it may be looking for a different input. Then replace the monitor. It's not common, but video processing circuitry can sometimes fail, and yours may have. New 17-inch LCD monitors are quite inexpensive now, so it would probably be more economical to replace this one than to try repairing it.

I see a gray screen only when I turn thePC on. I connected my monitor to my acer extensa laptop and still stayed gray.

The CRT monitors use RGB signals for displaying colours, most of the monitors dos'nt have colour setting option, This situation can only arise whenever the RGB signals are equally of the same strength, this is an indication that the chroma section responsible for colour distribution of your monitor is now working properly, you need to examine the RGB circuitry of your monitor, one more possibility is the data cable (VGA) has been tampered internally.
