Well , yes , it could be fixable , but first the adapter is a three prong to two prong adapter ? if so , for your safety I recommend to plug A/C UNIT wheres a three hole outlet , using the adapter eliminate the UNIT to be grounded , there for causing problems like cord getting hot. hope this helps

We had the same portable AC unit plugged into a heavy duty three prong extension cord and it melted and fused together.

Twinstar 33ef010gra electric fireplace. Blower and heater flucuate. Removed blower and tested with direct power ran fine, could not test heater. Rehooked to insert unit, flucuate and motor got hot.

I was having the same problem. Is it plugged directly into a wall outlet or is it on an extension cord, adapter, etc? I had mine plugged into an adapter. I plugged it in directly to the wall outlet and it worked perfectly.

What might causeI my electric mower to slow down and speed up and the electric cord connection has overheated at the mower connection?

there is approximately one OME of resistance per foot of power cord. the power cord must be sized according to the amps drawn. if the cord is undersized the motor will not get enough power. the results are a hot cord and probably a hot plug. a loos plug will also over heat, you may need to replace the outlet in the wall as well, get a 12 AWG cord if you are using a 100 foot cord. I personally would never use a 14 AWG if I had a choose, but if the cord was 25 feet or less that would probably be ok. if you are still using the old cord or if the wall outlet is damaged this could cause the ossolating current.

Wall light switch timer inline with Extension cord GE 15313

Black to black (hot), Green to green (ground) and the only one left is of course white to blue. The (neutral) white wire can be many different flavors (blue, red, orange, brown, etc.).

If the outlet your plugging into (or controlled by the service panel breaker) is 15 Amps use a minimum of 14 gage wire (or 12 gage is even better), if its a 20 Amp outlet use 12 gage wires (or 10 gage). Don't use a 16 or 18 gage wire because it may get hot and start a fire because its undersize for the Amps.

X7170 not powering up

Try this approach:
1. Remove the power adapter from the printer. The power adapter is the black box where the power cord is plugged in at the back of the printer.2. Disconnect the power cord from the power source.3. Reconnect the power cord directly to the power outlet in the wall. Bypass any surge devices or power outlets.4. Re-plug the power adapter into the printer.5. If the printer won't automatically power on, press the power button on the printer operator panel.
I hope this helps.

Charger tips to small for dell laptop

A Dell Mini net book is a small and very portable laptop. The compact size makes it a good candidate for travel or just simply using around the house. Outdoor aficionados can get the most computing life out of a Dell Mini by finding a way to charge the battery outside. One method works when you are near a building while the other can be used for more remote outdoor locales

Things You'll Need
  • Extension cord
  • Solar laptop charger
  • Dell Mini power adapter

    • 1 Plug an extension cord into an available power outlet. Run the extension cord to where you are outside. Many homes also have exterior outlets. Use an extension cord that is designed for outside use. Plug the Dell Mini power adapter into the extension cord to charge the battery.
    • 2 Purchase a laptop solar charger. Solar chargers are available from several different manufacturers and may come in the form of a roll or be built into a case that closes up for travel. Depending on the charger, you may also need to purchase a Dell Mini power adapter. Some chargers work with a Dell Mini cigarette lighter adapter that is designed to plug into a vehicle's power port.
    • 3 Place the solar laptop charger in a sunny location. Open up the case if the charger is in one and roll it out flat or unfold it to expose all of the solar cells.
    • 4 Connect the Dell Mini power adapter to the power port on the solar charger. Connect the other end to the netbook. The adapter will regulate the charge coming from the solar panel and recharge the battery in the Dell Mini.
  1. Tips & Warnings
  2. Solar chargers offer less power than a wall outlet. They can be used to extend the battery life of a Dell Mini or to recharge the battery when the netbook is off.
  3. Some solar laptop chargers are relatively heavy. Take the weight into consideration if you are going to be backpacking or otherwise carrying it on your person.

I own 2 of these heaters and on both at the plug-in they have melted where they get so hot. Is there a re-call on this product or are they being repaired?

Measure your supply voltage to ensure you are getting the required voltage to this device. Extension cords and lose wires in the wall plug outlets can be your culprit! Low voltage increases amperes draw and vice versa. Low ampers will increase voltage draw. Goodluck!

Dell C640 will not power up w/ac ad

  1. Verify that the AC adapter brick is receiving power.
Shut down the computer and unplug the adapter from the system first and then from the power socket. Wait 5 seconds.
  2. Plug the adapter directly into the wall socket, bypassing surge protectors, UPS units, or extension cords. The adapter LED should produce a steady green light.
  3. If you do not get a green light, try the adapter in another wall outlet in another room or verify that the first outlet works with a lamp or hairdryer.
  4. You can also isolate the power problem to a bad adapter by swapping it out with a second adapter - such as one for use with the port replicator.
  5. If the adapter LED lights, check the computer for bad connections.
  6. Examine the system power socket to be sure it does not have any bent, missing, or pushed-in pins.
  7. Plug the adapter connector directly into the computer, bypassing surge protectors, extension cords, etc. Be sure that the adapter connector fits tightly into the computer's power socket.
  8. If you have access to another computer like yours, try your adapter on it or its adapter on your computer.
  9. If your computer is still under warranty and the AC adapter does not respond to troubleshooting, please contact your computer manufacturer.
