Hi, i have a acer laptop and even if i have video without problem i haven't any interface to communicate. I have not mouse no key board and no USB recognized to connect any external device.
Looking inside nothing seems abnormal, i just like to know if there is a known issue.

Just resolved same problem on Acer Aspire 5000 by removing the battery, then goto device manager and disable "Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery" you can then put your existing battery back into the latop with any problems with the keyboard and touchpad. Mad solution I know but it worked for me

Hi,
I hope i can help resolve your problem for you.
this may be a problem relating to your system device driver files.
Try This:-
go to My Computer/Control Panel/System/Hardware/Device Manager. at the bottom of the page you will see USB.
If you have any yellow symbols ( exclamation Marks ) then the driver has been corrupted, or installed incorrectly.
if you have a system restore disk. this may solve the problem for you. or recovery cd.
If you require further assistance, please ask.

Most likely Missing Drivers.. Go to the manufacturers website and get updated drivers for your make/model... mainly the chipset drivers, mainboard drivers, usb/hotkey/keyboard drivers etc....

SOURCE: Acer -Video Display Issue
I have been working with three of the aspire ones and have not run into display issues. I would agree that it sounds like a hardware issue, either with the cooling unit or more likely with the display driver.
As for the external monitor, it is quite possible that the screen resolution is not matching between the two monitors when not in safe mode. In particular, the aspire one uses a funny 1024x600 which probably does not match the aspect resolution of most monitors.

hi, yes it is a motherboard issue-i have 2 of those with same problem. new boards for that model are costly. however i found a work around-get a usb pcmcia card put it in the slot on the side-then plug your mouse or other usb devices and you should be ok! I did this a year ago and it runs like new! way cheaper than getting a new one. this is a big problem with these 5100 models. acer no help-other than selling you a new mainboard. this is the best way 2 make it work again. the pcmcia cards are cheap enough. and after that you can get a usb hub if you need more ports. good luck! and please rate this solution. and make sure 2 turn on the cardbus if not on allready. (in epower manager) this will work! reply if you need help! be well!
