Ice maker not working .making noise but ice not dropnig

Most ice makers in domestic refrigerators make a noise when filling ice containers and when "dropping" ice cubes into ice container. If working OK then this is possibly the noise as described above.

If the noise is coming from the ice maker head itself. Then it sounds like the gear is slipping. They are plastic and it is very common for them to crack or break. Most ice makers are the same. Click Here to see a post on a Whirlpool ice maker with a broken gear.

It can be compressor fan noise,may be motor getting overheated and causing noise.It has to be inspected.

noise from ice mker can only be the ice maker unit... turn of icemker for a while and see if tn=he noise comes on during that period . if not replace ice mker head . mm

Hi, Reach in and see if you can feel ant ice laying on top of the ice maker fingers that might be jamming the ice maker. The motor making a noise is why I suggest this. If you can remove the ice maker and look, it would be better. Another option is to pop the ice maker head cover off and see if the drive wheel is trying to turn or maybe even broke.

does it have a lever that you can lift up and turn it off since you are not using it to make ice.this will eliminate the noise which is trying to add water but you don't have the water line hooked up to it or your water solonoid is not letting water feed yhe ice maker tray. good luck,hope this works.
