Question about GE JBP70SKSS Stainless Steel Electric Kitchen Range
Self-Cleaning oven door will not open - This is the second time this problem has occurred. First time a Handyman pulled the entire stove away from the wall and seemed to "push or reset" something that was responsible for the self-cleaning feature. The door then opened but the Handyman said a part needed to be replaced and that it was fairly expensive. He said that if we weren't concerned about self-cleaning, the oven door would now open and close O.K as long as we didn't shift the manual oven door lever all the way right, putting it in the "Clean" position. We've used the oven since then (about three years) without a problem, not concerned about the self-cleaning feature not working. About a month ago we had a problem with the oven door not closing all the way. Trying to fix it, the door finally closed all the way but now it will not open. I'm guessing that the manual lever was inadvertently shifted to the "Clean" position.
Any advice would be appreciated, particularly if i can avoid the cost of a repairman. Thanks in advance.
On many freestanding stoves the lock motor is located in the right rear (looking from the front) with a long rod connected to the lock. Pull or push the rod to move the lock to the open position..
