You can try these steps to configure the BR6216MG router for wireless security:

1. connect a computer to the router's numbered port.
2. launch a browser and type in 192.168.2.1, user name is admin and the password is 1234 (unless you changed it, if you do, then use that password)
3. Once you are in, click on wireless then click on Security.
4. Under Security, you can set it to either WEP or WPA. But for ease of use, I suggest you use WEP.
5. Set it to WEP then 64 bit for the key length.
6. You can then select ASCII or hex (that depends if your wireless adapter support both or one only). For hex, you can only use the letters A-F and numbers 0-9. For ascii, you can use characters, letters and numbers.
7. Set the default key. Only the key you select it in the "Default key" will take effect.
8.You can now fill the selected text box with the password that you want. Then click Apply.

If you have questions, just ask me then I'll answer your question as soon as I can.

Well it has no secruity and i can't put it on... How do i do it ?

  • You can configure WEP or WPA. But you cannot enable both at the same time.
  • You can configure MAC Access Control list and also enable WEP or WPA for additional security.
  • After you enable wireless security features on the router, you must configure your wireless clients with the matching settings. Your wireless clients will not be able to connect to your network unless you configure matching settings.
  • It is recommended you enable these wireless security settings from a computer wired to the router.
    1. Connect a computer to any one of the four LAN ports of the Belkin wireless router.
    2. Open your web browser and type the router IP address of the router (by default, the address is http://192.168.2.1.) in the address bar and press Enter.
    3. Click Login on the top of the page to login to the router. By default the Password is left blank, click Submit.
    4. Click Security under Wireless menu.
      1. Under Security, Select 64 bit WEP (or 128 bitWEP).
      2. Select Key 1 and enter any 10 hexadecimal digits - any combination of 0-9, A-F (26 digits if you selected 128-bit as the encryption strength). You may also enter a pass phrase and have the router generate a key for you.
      3. Apply the settings. Please write down the key - You will need it later to configure your wireless computers with the same key.

Zoom Wireless Router

Make sure that your PC wireless security settings are correct, as you will need to input a WEP or WPA key if the router has wireless security enabled. Also check the IP settings on your PC. It should be setup to use DHCP so that it picks up a valid IP/Netmask from the router.

You can read more about WEP and WPA in the following links:

Can not get security for dlink

You may need to access your router setup page to verify the wireless settings in the router. Using a computer that is wired to the router, open up IE and type 192.168.0.1, that is the default IP address of your router. Then, a window will open asking for a username password. The username by default is admin. Just leave the password field empty.

Once you're in the setup page, click on WIRELESS tab which on the left side of the page. On the Wireless page, you will see the wireless settings set in the router. You may also enable the wireless security on that page if there is not security enabled yet.

Please check this for your reference http://support.dlink.com/Emulators/di524/h_wireless.html

Hope this helps!
