My pc run too slow. (p4vp-mx) with 256 mb of ram os.win xp and many programs are instaled. my quetion is: what is the maximum ram should I instal for this motherboard? and what else can I do to max....

This motherboard can support up to 2 GIG of RAM and upgrading the RAM will definitely increase the speed of your computer, to make faster also better remove some program that you don't use to free some resources on your computer and do a defrag on your computer.

Asus motherboard

This issue can be solved if you swap your memory chips(RAM chips inserted in slots).. If you have two chips and slots then try interchanging it and try to boot with only one RAM chip.. Later shut down your computer and add the other chip if it works.. If you are using only one chip, then try the same chip in the other slot and boot.. It fixed for me a couple of times..

I am using this ASUS (asus M2N-MX nvidia mcp61p chipset

According to the manufacturer's web-site:

http://usa.asus.com/product.aspx?P_ID=0pKBwEIE8tqMT4j7

this motherboard has 4 x DIMM sockets,
supporting a maximum of 4 GB
of DDR2 800/667/533/ Non-ECC, Un-buffered Memory

and supports Dual Channel memory architecture.

So, add one 512MB DDR2 533 Mhz RAM into one of the slots,
being sure to leave *ONE* *EMPTY* slot between the two sticks,
in order to enable the high-performance "dual-channel" option.

Try your computer -- it should feel faster.

If you still think that need more RAM, buy two 512MB (or two 1024MB) DDR2 533 Mhz RAM, putting the 2 sticks into the two empty slots.

Do I need to buy 2 DDR2 Ram for my ASUS P5VDC-MX Motherboard?

with rams, if the memory it has is higher than that of your cpu, the pc will not boot up or if it is too low compared to your cpu again.

thus, you say it has got two slots right, remove both of the 512's and insert the 1gig only, run your computer, i am sure it will boot up nicely. switch it off. put one 512, if it does not boot then you should know that your ram has an excess of memory that your cpu could not apprehend to.

post a coment if this does not work.

thanks,

Ddr ram sdr ram i am same time input that tw0 thats not show two ram capacities just show one ram'' asus p4s533 model please help me

Hi safran0785,
The Asus motherboard, P4S533-MX can run two different types of memory.
(Just not at the same time & in different slots).
You can use 2, 184-pin memory, PC2700/PC2100 MHz or PC1600 up to 2GB. (1GB DIMMs) inserted in the two memory slots closest to the CPU.
Or you can run SDR memory, 168-pin PC133 or PC100MHz DIMMs up to 1GB of memory in the last two slots farthest from the CPU.
You can not run both types of memory at the same time.

The 184-pin DDR PC2700MHz memory is much faster then SDR memory.
The maximum amount of system memory supported is 2GB.

Need more information/questions, just post here.
Good luck safran0785!
Mike
