Hi, if you restored your PC back to factory settings it will have wiped any programs or software that you installed after buying the computer. You will need to re-install these manually. Did you use the Acer recovery discs????

Factory reset for Aspire one without disk and alt + F10 doesnt work

The disk-to-disk recovery may be disabled preventing the Alt + F10 key sequence running eRecovery. To enable disk-to-disk recovery, you must do the following... (do not have an external monitor attached)
1. activate the BIOS utility by pressing F2 during Power On System Test (while Acer logo displayed)
2. select Main from the categories listed at the top of the screen
3. find D2D Recovery at the bottom of the screen and use F5 and F6 keys to set this value to Enabled
4. exit the BIOS utility and save changes.
The system will reboot.
5. while the Acer logo is showing, press the Alt key and the F10 key at the same time repeatedly
6. wait as Acer eRecovery starts up then follow onscreen instructions to perform system recovery.

Alternatively to the above, if Windows can be accessed, the recovery can be done by launching Acer eRecovery Management by running the program from the Acer Empowering Technology program group in the Start menu.

I need a acer aspire one happy recovery disk

The Acer Aspire One Netbook has a hidden partition on its hard disk drive which allows recovery of
1. operating system to original factory image (with no recovery disk required)
2. applications (selectable)
3. drivers (selectable)
If the netbook came with pre-installed Windows XP, use Acer eRecovery Management by
1. pressing start button at bottom left corner of Taskbar
2. hover cursor over All Programs then Acer Empowering Technology
3. then click on Acer eRecovery Management and follow subsequent recovery instructions
Alternatively, on powering up, press Alt and F10 together while Acer logo is showing.
If this doesn't work, there is the possibility that the D2D recovery is not enabled for startup.
To enable D2D recovery,
1. press F2 on powering up to get into the startup utility
2. cursor over to the Main tab
3. cursor down to D2D and enable it.
4. save changes when exiting - system will reboot
5. again, press Alt and F10 together while Acer logo is showing.

I bought an Aspire One just to cruse the internet and email. I have MS Office, Live Mail & Explorer running on Windows 7 Starter. I have no Restore or system discs. I have USB Flash drives and a CD-RW....

the Acer Aspire one (should) come with a restore partition.

There should be a program on your start menu something like "E recovery" or "Acer Easy recovery" which will run your through making your restore discs. Typically this requires about 2 DVDs, but may require more.

even with the restore discs made there is another method to reformat the entire system. during startup, tap on F2 to get into your BIOS (some systems use ESC, others use DEL, I believe the aspire one uses F2 for startup options). There should be an option called D2D Recovery - make sure this is ENABLED. save your changes and restart the system.

As the system restarts, hold down the ALT key and tap on F10. this should initialize the system recovery process. This process will restore your windows and system drivers to an "out of the box" state. any personal data or other programs will be wiped off the system during this process.

There is one option in bios D2d enable it .then save settings.
For enter bios when you power up the computer press F1 or F2 or "del" key then go to main menu find D2d
then enable then save and exit.
Then when it restart press ALT +F2
then you see recovery mode follow the procedure and wiped acer.
But if there is not any recoverry then you need recovery disk.

D2d recovery

Hi there
You want to restore your computer to its original settings without
recovery CDs?
This recovery process helps you restore the C: drive with the original software content that is installed when you purchase your notebook. Follow the steps below to rebuild your C: drive. (Your C: drive will be reformatted and all data will be erased.) It is important to back up all data files before using this option.
Before performing a restore operation, please check the BIOS settings.
1 To activate the BIOS utility, press <F2> during boot up.
2 Check to see if Acer disk-to-disk recovery is enabled or not.
3 Make sure the D2D Recovery setting in Main is Enabled.
4 Exit the BIOS utility and save changes. The system will reboot.
To start the recovery process:
1 Restart the system.
2 While the Acer logo is showing, press <Alt> + <F10> at the same time to
enter the recovery process.
3 Refer to the onscreen instructions to perform system recovery.

Good luck and Merry Christams

D2d recovery

Is the d2d erecovery function enabled in the bios?

To check, activate the BIOS utility, press <F2> during the POST; while the notebook PC logo is being displayed.

To enable D2D recovery ard disk recovery), select Main from the categories listed at the top of the screen.

Find D2D Recovery at the bottom of the screen and use the <F5> and <F6> keys to set this value to Enabled.

That should allow you to use the F10 function key to activate D2D.
* Note: D2D e-recovery is not in Acer Empowering Management.
AEM is a power management utility that supports ACPI (advanced configuration and power interface) which allows for maximum power conservation and maximum performance. (Managed by the windows OS)
