I was typing normally and while i was typing i think my nail got between the space between the letters e and d and when i lifted my finger while typing, the key 'e' came off abit (not completely came off) so now its diagonal. It still works though but im not sure if my keyboard keys are the type that can just be pulled off... Im really upset and i dont know what to do.. do i need to get it professionally fixed or can i fix this myself? HELP!!! :'( I need this laptop for my uni work and im having trouble typing now since i feel like my finger is going to get in the even larger gap and flip the whole key off. My laptop is a dell inspiron 6400... Its only 4 months old i cant believe i wrecked it...
Please help me asap I WILL REALLY APPRECIATE IT
I just got a dell inspiron 1720 and got a chunk of food under a key. And like you was not sure if the key was removable or not. well it was.. I GENTLY pulled it up and it poped off. It has very small groves that clip onto retaining wires.. very small and fragile looking. not saying yours is the same but if you can see under the key since it is up a little you may be able to tell... it was harder then I thought to put the key back on... pushed pretty hard and then POP it was on... If you dont feel comfortable doing it take it in. And like I said yours may not be the same as mine. if for some reason it is broke where it wont go back on, you should be able to order a new keyboard for it, IF you feel you can change one out.

hey thanks heaps for your help. :) i was freaking out because i was scared that if i pushed the key back in with abit of force it would break. thats the reason why i didnt do it in the first place I just didnt want to break it even more. But i eventually tried it and it popped right back in. *phew* that was scary. nevertheless im glad its back to normal! thanks again!!
The backspace key loosened and then, with use, came off completely. It does look as if anything is broken but just needs to be put back in, but it is very fiddly. I have not been able to do anything to help so far... Does anyone have any suggestions?
