You must reinstall sound drivers on the Laptop. Follow the link below, enter your current Operating System, and download the Audio drivers for your Sound Card.
There should not be any problem with you buying your own PCI ethernet card and install it yourself. They are not that expensive. www.newegg.com has on for only $7.99 and it will work fine in your computer. It does not need to be from Dell.
hi,
welcome to fixya.com
yes offcourse ur dell inspiron 5100 laptop support wireless connection, and it will detect the wireless connection in ur computer, uninstall and reinstall the wireless driver and then try and connect to wireless connection, and what u can do is that reset the router and then try and connect to wireless network it will definately connect..and it will also detect the wireless signal also........good luck
just check your video card model, then go online to download the video card driver.
in case you have a build-in-video card like intel .....somethings, just go back dell.com and check your model , and download the video card driver.
On the Inspiron 5100, the wireless card can be accessed thru a door on the bottom of the laptop. 1)Remove AC power and Battery 2)Turn the computer over, loosen the captive screw (labeled "circle C") in the modem/Mini PCI card cover, and lift the cover away from the computer. 3)Disconnect the Wireless card from the attached cables. These are the Antenna wires. 4)Use your fingertips to carefully spread apart the securing taps on each side of the Wireless card until the card pops up. 5)Remove the Wireless card. Disable and renable wireless card, even try unistalling the wireless card and reinstall it. update driver for wireless card. then if those fail, put pc next to router if signal still bad then card needs replaced. If your ISP didnt have you power off the router for 30 sec then do so.
