White dots on screen

I developed white spots on the screen of my Mitsubishi WD-57734 in increasing numbers over days and weeks. I called a repair service who quoted me $1500 to replace the light engine. He suggested I call Mitsubishi Customer relations at 800-332-2119 option 5 which i did. To make a long story short after several conversations with them they agreed to replace the part for free if I picked up the labor (Would have been less conversations if I had the original purchase receipt). Instead of $1500 I paid $250. The tv was only 3.5 years old. Perseverance paid off.

Blurring of lettering on bottom of screen

These sets need to have all three colors - RED - BLUE - GREEN - lined up correctly on the screen in order for the picture to look normal. This is called convergence.

When its out of alignment the video will look 3-D, wavy, distorted, etc. Most of the time you just need to adjust your convergence in the menu. If you cannot adjust it in the menu - then your convergence is broken and needs to be repaired. Convergence problems are very common on all Projection TV sets including Sony, Samsung,JVC,Philip Magnavox,Panasonic,Akai,Pioneer, Hitachi,Mitsubishi,Zenith and others.
You can get a convergenece repair kit with instructions from the links below.

Here are some of the most common problems with these sets...

Problem #1) Convergence

Yours may have one or more of the following symptoms...

*Screen Looks 3-D
*Colors wont align
*Screen may look distorted or warped
*No Audio/Video - TV Shuts down - May also make a constant chirping sound

Problem #2
Another common problem is dull or washed out video.

Your set may have one or more of the following symptoms....

*Dull looking picture
*White looking picture
*Halos around objects
*Red/Orange looking picture

You can see some more examples and find a fix herebb0cf99.png

Everything in picture has a red outline tried

Howdy,

It sounds like you are having a problem in the conversion circuit. The outputs IC’s for that circuit have failed and are need of replacement. The average cost is at least $450 on one trip. Call an Authorized Service Dealer for repair and estimate.

The conversion circuit is the circuit that aligns the picture.

Good Luck, Big Irish.

PAL CONVERSION TO ntsc 3.58mghz

a lot of work, if the TV does not have a choice of frequencies ( most do these days), you would need to replace the tuner and possibly make changes around the IF stage, my suggestion, outside of replacing the set, is to look for a model sold there similar to yours, it used to be that the last letter or two of the mdel number signifies the country or region.if you can find the same model in the Philipines I suggest you get the service manual and replace all the components on the IF and Tuner to that of the manual specifications....I have done this many times when TV's were expensive, but these days it's better to just use it as a monitor and attach a VCR or pay TV box for the tuner.
