I have a Panasonic DMR-EZ45 DVD/VHS Recorder. The machine has stopped reading DVD discs and whatever disc I insert (blank, pre-recorded) it makes a lot of clicking noises and then displays can't read disc. I have tried unplugging and resetting to shipping state, but still have the same problem. Any ideas?

This problem is associated with a regulator on the power board. It's an easy fix if you can use a soldering iron.

If not you may be able to get someone to repair it for you. I have posted instructions on how to replace the defective component.

There maybe a problem with the optic lens (dirt) try to clean it very gently with cotton, also the motor plate that holds the cd/dvd is not holding it very well so it not rotates at proper speed try to clean the both sides where the hole of the cd/dvd is when it´s inserted, if you think that you migth not have skills for that don´t do it.

Try removing the cover and clean the glass laser eye with rubbing alcohol and a cotton swab. Clean the glass laser eye.
If cleaning doesn't work, then the circuit will need to be replaced.
