Cd burner wont burn whole cd. It burns 6 out of 18 songs and wont work in cd players. hp pavillion laptop dv2000

What are the file formats you are trying to burn? Are they copyrighted ? You can download Windows Media Player and many more freeware programs at FILEHIPPO : http://www.filehippo.com/. Look under "Audio and Video". That said is your laptop equiped with a DVD/CD burner? I was lookin at the specs: http://h18000.www1.hp.com/products/quickspecs/10826_div/10826_div.html It doesn't say you have a CD burner , ony a CD rom drive. That does not mean you don't have one. Open My Computer and right click on the CD ron , Properties, and Google the model of CD rom.

Did you put a disk in the drive first before trying to burn? if not you do that first then Media player will detect it saying unknown media select cd or DvD then select format for songs mp3 if thats what you want and then copy your songs on to the disk. If you need more help let me know.

There probably is no way to fix this. If it is the problem, getting and installing a new cd drive is very simple. You can buy a new drive here: http://www.newegg.com/Store/SubCategory.aspx?SubCategory=600&name=Blu-Ray-Burners&Order=PRICE. To remove the old one, all you need to do is open up the side, unscrew the one or two screws holding it to the case and unplug the two cables that are attached to it. The install the new one, slide it in attach the cables and put the screws back in. It is as simple as that and should work just fine after that. Try creating a normal CD-R for example just a picture using windows transfer which is simply double clicking your CD drive icon in my computer dragging a picture on to it then burn the files should be on the left, if so then your burner should be fine. I Would suggest using NERO to burn DVD's

Possible that the cd player is not compatible with this type of disc?
Are you burning using "multisession" turned on? If so, try turning this off in your burning software. Some cd players don't like it when you use this option.

It could be poor quality CD's. Does your berner software give you the option to slow the burn down?

you may not install the proper drivers of your burner, install it again and use some other burner application like nero cd burner etc.

Your CD Drive may be just a CD/DVD reader Drive may not be able to burn onto CD/DVD,s my dads laptop cant, he gets same error when he trys, so he had to use a different cd/dvd burner on a desktop.

If you have a desktop or laptop and you are 100% sure it can burn to CD/DVD,s then i reccomend you get a program called "ULTRA ISO" it is shareware but allows burning up to 300mb per cd for free before it asks you to pay so as long as you keep cd files below a total of 300mb you,d never have to pay. if its actually ITUNES which is reporting the error then your CD/DVD drive may require its own software before itunes will reconise it as CD/DVD burner drive. windows media player can report this type of error also.

Coleman, Sounds like a faulty drive if it opens and closes. Dontel, just because you have a CDrom drive does not mean that you can burn CD's. Is the drive rewriteable? Does it say RW or rewriteable on the door of the CD unit? Also you can click on Start/Mycomputer and see if the CD drive shows RW.

alot of vista os come pre installed with the software and maybe just a setting you need fixed
