No Disc Have set up DVR to Record or even Play Discs BUT Cyberhome keeps showing up on TV screen NO DISC when disc is installed. Lose 5-10 min Recording Time alone. Use DVD-R Blank discs. DVR set to Mode for Recording. & then says NO Disc. Cyberhome 1600 DVR. Time for a new DVR? any other brands to consider? Fixable. I often shut power OFF to DVR to have it Play Blank Disc & remove the NO DISC.

When I was on holiday in California (USA) I bought this DVD Recorder and had trouble trying to record with the messages ' Disc Error/No Disc'.

In India I still have the Trouble and am unable to use the DVR1600.

I took it to a mechanic who says it is a 'Software Problem' - I wonder what it is and how do I solve it. Any solutions?.

The reasons for the "No disc" issue are various. In order to solve the problem more precisely, you can refer to the followings reasons and select the most solutions.
1. Incomplete disc information or scratched disc. This is the main reason for the issue. Before you try anything to examine or fix your DVD player, it's suggested that you make sure the disc you are trying to play is intact and well. If it's the problem of your disc, then trying to fix your DVD player does not help at all. In this case, you can copy the scratched DVD disc and then you may play it on your player machine.

Cyberhome DVR 1600 DVD

What format are you recording in?If the recorder is set for DVD +R, and your playback machine won't read the disc, you may need to record on a DVD-R, or a DVD +-R. Or vice-versa. Some DVDRW discs will record on one machine and won't play on another. The media are incompatible. Another problem - if you are copying a copy-protected disc, it might not play back either. Are you sure you are finalizing the disc? This process takes 4-5 minutes and requires two or three responses sometime.

It sounds like you need a firmware update but it may be too late now that Cyberhome is out of business. I suggest you buy a better unit but if you have some unfinalized or unreadable discs you want to try and recover I have instructions on how to do that on a PC that may be of help. www.drx9000repair.netfirms.com/
