I have a Kodak EasyShare V550 camera.
I've had it for years and had no problems with it until recently.
Now I am unable to upload photos to the computer.
I've tried using Picasa, Roxio, and Windows to upload the photos, but all of them say that the memory card is empty ... but when the memory card is in the camera, I can see and review all of the photos.
Could be that the camera and/or the memory card are over the hill, but I'm still hoping that I can get our vacation photos from it somehow.

If your pictures are in jpg format, you can download Picasa, free from Google at http://picasa.google.com/ and use it to upload your photos. You can also do it using your browser if it handles Flash. If not, use the one by one uploader at Shutterfly. I recommend using Picasa, because it will find all the pictures on your PC and sort them by date. It includes a photo editor and facial recognition too. I would drag all your pictures to the "Pictures" folder to make it easier to work with them.
The V550 uses MMC and SD cards, not SDHC cards. While SDHC cards will fit into the slot, they are electronically incompatible and won't work. You need to go with MMC or SD cards, 2GB and smaller.
Just hit cancel then after that click on Start then My computer. Under removable storage you will see your camera there right click and click open. you can copy your pictures now and drag them into your hard drive.
I don't think its the battery. My just did this this week..If I slide the Favorites switch up (switch by hand strap mounting hole) I can view the pictures in it, but it won't use in photo mode, Lens won't extend, and it shuts off?
Hey akpssttt, I had the same problem with my kodak and even though I was able to turn on the camera, the lens would not come back in. So after awhile I just gave up took it to the repair shop and they still weren't able to fix it. So I left the camera for about a year now, gathering dust, but recently I decided to give another shot, and amazingly when I plug the camera into the charger, the lens went back in! And now the camera works perfectly.
So I would suggest you leaving your camera out for awhile and do not charge it until the batteries is completely drained. And then plug it back into the charger.
