Pop smoke and blurred screen. Found burn spot on botom of PC board under what appears to be the high voltage power supply. Looks like a charcoaled capacitor and maybe a diode. Have not tested the diode yet. Capacitor is definitely toast. I can see a stencil on the botom of the PC card and it appears that the reference designator for the capacitor is C449 for the diod is D453. Can you tell me the component part numbers as I have no parts list?

Jdowell1,

The easiest solution would be to go to http://www.servicemanuals.net and purchase a downloadable service manual for about $16 US. If you plan on working on this unit in the future it should more than pay for itself. The manual would have the values of the components and much more valuble information.

Thanks for using FixYa and for the generous rating.

I have no display in ASUS Eee PC 1000H PC Notebook but power and light is there

Try attaching an external monitor to the laptop & see if you could get any display on it. If this is successful, then you might have either a faulty LCD cable or screen inverter board.
The LCD cable transfers data signal from the motherboard & video card to the LCD screen. It also supplies high voltage DC power to the screen inverter board. The screen inverter board works as a power supply for the backlight lamp mounted inside the LCD screen. It converts low voltage DC power to high voltage AC power needed for the backlight lamp.

Hello Tiangston9.
These plasma TVs have a common failure with the Ysus boards, more specific an IC that is underneath the big heatsink. The capacitors in the power supply became defective as well.
Check the link to find parts to fix your TV.

Vizio p50hdm loud pop from inside tv now screen is dim

Hi there! This could be as a result of several boards. Y-sus, Z-Sus or power supply. One would need to check that all the relevant Voltages on the power supply are actually present. Next would be to check the Fuses on either Y or Z-Sus boards. The board with the fuse blown would most likely be the one at fault. However it blows for a reason so replacing the fuse on these boards will probably not help. But it is worth a shot. If all else fails refer to a repairer. If you can get the boards and want to try doing it yourself it may or may not prove to be successful. Please beware of HIGH CURRENT before you proceed. Best Wishes and Good Luck, JUS004

Inverter Board

The inverter supplies high voltage to the CCFL lamp. Check the cables to the lamp, the lamp is located on the botom edge of the screen, there are two cables from the inverter to each end of the CCFL lamp. make sure they are not shorting out on any metal frame.

No Power

Your set is going into high voltage shut down. Might have been the high voltage transformer that has gone bad.
