Question about HP Pavilion dv6000z Notebook

1 Answer

NOTEBOOK DILEMMA... i have a sony vaio nr series laptop. ive had two main issues with it since ive owned it. i use windows live messenger, i purchased a webcam that is compatible with windows live messenger and windows vista. the first issue is it isnt working, the camera isnt making a connection theres no video feed. ive uninstalled and reinstalled the software from the cd still nothing. the second issue im having is with a sns site i frequent(www.stickam.com). the sns site allows the user to use webcams in chatrooms and allows the user to broadcast live video feed from their own room. the sns site requires macromedia flashplayer 7 or higher and java. i have downloaded both yet i see no video feed displayed onscreen. im not sure if the issues are because of my notebook and the already notorious windows vista or what. i emplore help.

I also use stickam. When you enter a chat, or open a chat, are you selecting the camera source from the macromedia flash menu that pops up?

Are you using Internet Explorer, or Firefox?

Also check to make sure you have the latest version of flash, as there was recently another version released (version 9,0,124,0). You can use this link to verify your flash version:

It's a common mistake to connect almost any USB device before the software/driver.. If you have done this, you need to disconnect the usb cable, un-install the software, boot the pc, then re-install the software. There might be a spot in the installation process where it asks you to connect the webcam.. Do it then, not before. If it does not ask you to plug the cable in, do it after you have booted the pc. The un-install software is usually bundled with the install, on the same CD.. If not, you might have to download it from the vendors website, or use the windows un-installer. Rgds, dave

Sony has not released the Windows 7 Driver for this Computer model. However, you can try installing the original Windows Vista Driver to resolve the issue.

Please download the Driver from the below link

Download the Driver

Please click the "Accept" button on the page to download the Driver.

Then, please unzip the file and double click on the "DPInst32.exe" file to begin the installation.

After installing the Driver, please restart the Computer for the settings to take the effect.

Camera should work correctly after installing this Driver.

However, you may need to download and install the Camera Application to use the Camera. You may also use the Camera with any messenger Application like Skype or Windows Live Messenger.

You can download the Windows 7 Compatible "ArcSoft WebCam Companion Software from the below link.

Download the Software

Please click on the "Download Now"option on the page.

Then, please double click on the file to begin the installation.

Install xp on sony series nr

The BIOS doesn't care nor detect the installed OS and should only be upgraded if you are having BIOS issues.

The old adage "If it works don't try to fix it" certainly applies here.

Sony Vaio Motion Eye

First find your VAIO Camera capture utility and configure it to see both your webcam and your microphone/ to do this if VAIO Camera Capture Utility is not in your start list of programs, Click on start in the space search "VAIO Camera" without the quotes. it should bring up the VAIO camera capture utility. Click on it/when it opens click on settings/ click on the Cam/mic tab and choose Sony Visual Communications Camera in the drop down under preferred Camera/ Do the same for your Preferred Microphone/ click OK/Now click the little red x in the far upper right of the VAIO Camera Capture utility to close it. Now in your chat software either Windows live chat or Yahoo chat or whichever one you have. I have Windows live chat/ configure your video in there as well to use your motion eye and your microphone. You should now be able to chat live seeing and hearing your guest as long as they have the same chat program.Do a search on google for "Windows Live Messenger" if you wish to use that utility to chat with. If you choose Windows Live Messenger, in the main window click on tools/ click on "Audio and Video Setup".
