The light and screen flash as it cannot sense a video signal from your computer and so it will not switch on fully or goes into shut down/sand by mode.

The power light of my dell E172FPb monitor flashes and doesn't work anymore. Whats wrong?

dbeukeboom, Unit is OLD!!! Trade for new or try to refurbish(repair) the internal power supply(visit YOUTUBE for video clips) !!! The lcd panel is ok, it's the electronics that's bad!! After you do the YOUTUBE thing, then come back to fixya and read the fixya profiles of "budmrtn" "buddymc" "12fixlouie" and all the other tech's that already know what you should know. 12fixlouie

The power light on our model E172FPb Dell monitor is blinking. The screen does not turn on. What could be the problem

Most common failures in the LCD monitors are bad capacitors (bulging top/seal or leaking) in the power supply, blown fuses, failed inverter circuits (blown fuse, shorted transistors, shorted/open transformers), bad lamps (poor solder connections or worn out lamps). You will need to open it up and inspect the inside, see example of failed DELL monitors to get some ideas what to look for: http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/allalbums
Post back what you see inside so we can guide you further and it will help out other people in the future also.

The DELL E172FPb LCD Monitor (switch light flicks green)scr black

hi, extremely common problem for dell 17 in monitors. the capacitors and transistors on the power board internally have gone bad. to get repaired, it may cost 40-50 at a shop. i have repaired these in the past and they always come out well for at least 3 more years. may want to find another monitor though. if you would like steps on how to repair, let me know and i will find my old repair threads to give to you.

The DELL E172FPb LCD Monitor (switch light flicks green)scr black

You need to open it up and inspect the componente inside, look at the fuse and the transistors in the inverter circuits first, also look for sign of over heating on the board, see pictures here for the guide: http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/allalbums

There are two possibilities, one is bad caps in the power supply, number two is shorted out transistors (P/N c5706/5707) in the inverter circuits. phil_bischof, Not many sub's for it!! Because the package not standard "TO220AB" It is TO220FP package device. You can try www.digikey.com for this part number: MBRF20200CTGOS-ND and ask them if you really need to buy 10 of them for $27.88 or will they sell you only 1 for $2.80 + shipping? Have you determined cause of rectifier failure? Good luck, guy. 12fixlouie
