For all electric blenders the rubber gasket is placed between the glass or plastic blender container and the rotor with the blades.

The assembly is easy to recall when one realizes the rubber gasket is the seal for keeping liquids leaking out of the blender.

Most blenders have similar issues and it occurs when you have a binding and the seal gets hot and the rubber wears away.
in this photo I replaced this part it was only 9.98 on Amazon.
But it was for a black and decker. Because you mentioned the blade felt loose I would try that.
search Amazon for blender parts, maybe use model number of your blender. But save picture to phone and then you have idea what you might need.

remove the screw on blade holder, and make sure the gasket is in place ,, check the seal on it,, if its defective replace it,, check along the threads to make sure that the canister isn't cracked

slide it over the blade ,, so that it sits between the blade base and the pitcher bottom

I have not seen the drive gear made available. You could try making an inquiry with either of the above sites to see if they can locate a replacement. Alternatively contact a local small appliance repair shop; they may be able to scavenge the part from another blender.

when one fails and it is a design problem don't buy another one or the manufacturer will keep on making the same rubbish

The seal on the rotating shaft has either worn out or hardened and if constructed like most, the seal cannot be replaced since the chopping blade and shaft are permanently fastened together. Your only recourse is to buy a new blade assembly which should be available.
I would search for it with the model number of the blender and 'cutter' or 'blade' assembly.

However these are prone to cracking. I ordered a second after my first cracked, and the second one cracked after just a couple uses.

They offer the glass jar, blade assembly, and other parts for the BL1900R. Judging from reviews, it may not be long until something else goes wrong.. I am gong to order the replacement part this one time. If anything else goes wrong though, forget it. Too bad. Black and Decker usually makes good stuff.
