Every time I turn on the printer it first prints the test page and then does the assigned task.

I have to turn the printer off then on to print the next order any solution?

Many the printers will need more information to perform a printing task. Depending on the task("firmware updates") will provide necessary information to do this. Many times this goes neglected. If you do not get periodic updates for your printer, It is a good idea to browse the manufacturer of the printer. What to do at this point is to print out a self-test page to get current Driver software information. Then go to printer's support website and see if there is an current or "newer" update. Once this is in place it should be tested for it's functionality. If this solves the problem, try this insted of considering the worse. If this does not inspect the operating system of the printer that is sending information to the printer. I have come to understand many drivers for the software that some retailers use usually end up out of business or changed their name. All of these thigs should Always be performed prior to condemning a Hardware issue incorporated in a printer. Hope this helps, Best,Stephen

Prints test copy every time I switch it on.

All right so you are getting print test copy every time you turn on or switch on your printer. You can follow the following steps to fix this issue:-

1.. Turn off the printer and wait 10 seconds. Turn it on again

2. Let the printer print the test page.

3. After the test page is printed, disconnect the USB cable connecting the printer to your computer. DO NOT turn off the printer while disconnecting the USB cable.

4. Place the test page on the scanner glass and press the SCAN button on the printer. The ON light will flash as the page is being scanned.

5. Remove the test page when the ON light is steady.

6. Finally, turn off the printer and wait another 10 seconds. Then turn it on again. No more printing test pages! Yay!

(You may now reconnect the printer to your computer via the USB cable.)

let me know if it fix this issue and helpful to you.

Test page prints each time it's turned on

Test pages are often printed by holding down one of the buttons on the printer. Make sure that none of the buttons are stuck. Look up in your printer manual which button is for test print and make sure it isn't stuck.

Printer prints a test page every time it is turned on.

Hi everyone

After replacing the print cartridges 2 steps need to be done:

1. Wait for the test page to be printed out and

2. Put a page over the scanner glass and press scan button on your

printer.

Turn off the printer and turn it on again to see if the problem was

solved.

HP Photosmart C3100 series BEWARE SPAM NUMBER 1-800-532-4187

I just got off the HP help line.  After changing my black ink cartridge a test page was printing each time I turned the machine on.  This is very costly, in both time and ink as the cartridges themselves for this machine hold very little ink.  I tried to learn from HP tech how to turn off the test-print while keeping my color cartridge empty.  It turns out that you cant do it.  HP requires you to keep buying and using cartridges whether you need them or not.If you buy the color ink it will use it up in its testings.  And if you dont buy the color cartridge it will use up your black ink by printing the test each time you turn on the printer.  The printer was inexpensive sure, but I'm paying for it in wasted ink.

Printer prints test page each time printer is turned on

There may be something initialised to print a test page everytime it starts, just remove printer, uninstall driver and re start. Re install drivers and connect printer when prompted or when installation has finished. This should revert to default settings.
