The buttons on my Series-II cubes get stuck all the time. It seems the button itself sticks against the housing. I first spray on a little bit of silicone to coat the sides of the housing that rub up against the button. Then I use a straight razor blade to pry in the gap between the button and the wiring-holes, alternating below each hole. As you do that, the button rocks out a little bit at a time.
Sounds like the amp in the speakers has a problem. First thing to do is try the speakers on another PC, or an MP3 player etc. If the speakers work for this then they're OK.
If they don't work for this (more likely) you should buy a new set of speakers, considering the small cost of replacement.
That is for your on star phone that came with the truck. As long as you are paid up on the on star and have minutes on your phone you purchase them seperately. You can press the button and use the phone the little speaker is really a microphone and the speakers for your phone come thru on your radio.
Go to: Control Panel > Sound and then a box will pop up. Click on Playback tab and make sure your correct speaker output is selected as the default. Then click Apply button. Then OK. Also, to check your mute/volume button click the speaker icon on your task bar (its next to the little clock in the bottom right of your screen. You might have to click a little arrow that looks like this < to see it. Then just turn up the volme. Also, make sure the speaker cables are plugged in and the power cord as well if they are external speakers.
push the play button (V on the top of the unit - other end is pause II) until the volume level (number in the lower left corner beside the speaker icon) turns green (2 or 3 seconds), then push the FF button >>I to raise the level or the REWIND I<< to lower the level
You have to open the phone and inspect the volume up button. It has probabely seperated from the board in the front 2 connections. Solder these 2 connections into place and you should be back to business
double click the little speaker in the lower right corner and unmute the speakers. if there is no speaker in the corner there will be a greater than button (<) and you should see the speaker

just remove the cover and check the speaker volume.. may be some new plastic coating an the new cover will be blocking the sound from coming outside properly.
