Re: JVC AV-27230 27" TV - Won't turn on - repair guy says...
He probably means flyback transformer. They are harder to find unless you are a service provider. Then they have access to these parts. Generally it's a cheap part, but often servicemen can mark it up quite a bit. Try another service guy.

Look to the High voltage circuit and also inspect the circuit board for any cracks or broken solder connections, unless you have a meter and can find a schematic it may be cheaper to replace the set than fix it.
Tv is going into x-ray protection mode. Check power supply voltage, make sure it's not too high. 160v dc across main cap, do not use chassis ground, use cap ground. If too high, something is open. If too low, something is shorted in power supply. Check voltage regulator ic.
Replace the SMPS (switch mode power supply) STRF6626 regulator. This is the part which supplies multiple voltages which ranges from 157 V to as low as 16 V. Any one of these voltages could be disrupted. So instead of trying to repair it, sensible thing would be to replace it.
Your TVs power supply regulator section has got some trouble with it, that is why power indicator doesn't light up. You have purchased it only fourteen days back, surely there will be warranty for it. Do not open the TV. The company will give no concession if the set is opened. Send it to the authorised service center and get it repaired. Some power supply faults may fatal, and may have to spend more. Since your TV is a new model, spare part availability in the open market may be difficult. Send it to them and let them do the work. OK.
Hello, I am a tv tech. I worked on a JVC AV-32D502 today. Problem: led flashes / no power or picture at all. Same as trobertson52's set. The microprocessor is bad in my machine. trobertson52, if your sets' relay does not click when the power button is depressed you most likely have the same problem or the standby power circuit is at fault. That circuit supplies +5 volts to the micro.
Edtal you have a different problem with your machine. Your machine is going into shutdown. A number of circuits could cause this and would need to be looked at by a technician to determine exactly which circuit is at fault. High voltage transformer (HOT) \ Vertical Circuit \ Power supply are the most likely causes.
I changed capacitor C926 (1000Uf 16V) on main board. It solved the problem. I went with 1000uF 63V as it was readily available...it's okay to go with higher voltage. It was hard to fit it on because of the larger size but it worked.
If the set is dead after the popping sound, then it has probably blown a component due to high voltage. Everything inside a tv starts with the power supply. Nothing will work unless the power supply is 100%. I don't know what your rates for repairs are in general, but the price sounds good. The final decision is yours to repair or replace. Good Luck, JUS004
This could denote a power supply problem. or overcurrent protection due to a component going bad. If you do not have electronics experience, "DO NOT TRY TO WROK ON THIS SET" people have been seriously hurt trying to repair TV without knowing the basics of electronics. If this is a power supply problem it may be the HV supply and the switching power supply (IVHT based) or the low voltage starter supply. In both cases I would advise you taking it to the shop for repairs.
