My washer wont power up, but the display says door locked. it wont run any cycle at all. can it be reset besides unplugging
Take the bottom panel off three screws and put your hand up where the door is located feeling blindly for a plastic latch....pull the latch to manually unlock door..... then with the door open unplug washer and wait 10 minutes...even if you have done this before this is different b/c the door will be open....still open plug back up and turn on..if the display comes on its the door lock...about $94.00 if no display its the panel board and that'a about $ 200.00...hope this helps too
Our door kept sayin "door locked". a technician came out to see it and said it was the door lock but that he had temporarily fixed the problem. he said to call if it happened again and would have to order new door lock which runs about $160. after six washes it said door locked again. he came out agian and within 5 minutes of diagnosis said it need a new door lock. i was furious bc i had already payed him and found an new door lock on Ebay for about $70. Got the manual off the internet and had my hubby replace door lock. not very hard except when he replaced it it still said dook locked. after several hours i told him to unscrew the bottom panel because i had seen tec do the same. to our amazement, one of the wires had come loose and needed to be plugged back in. amazingly it started working perfectly. then , i put a big load of towels in and it started shaking badly again and the same problem reoccured. DOOR LOCKED. so we took the bottom panel off and the wire had com loose again. we stuck it back in and wah-la... it worked again. this has happened about 4 times now and everytime we just open them bottome panel and replace wire. i believe we never even needed the new door lock to begin with? we havent checked putting the old door lock back in but i bet it would work because it looked like nothing was wrong with it when we took it out. I hope this helps before you spend an extra $200 or so like we did for a loose wire. we have now just left the front bottom panel off and when it happens, i just bend down and tighten. Hope this helps.
I had this problem. I opened the bottom panel and it was full of water. Decided it was more than a loose wire and called for service. The service tech found a hole in the rubber gasket around the tub - it leaked into the door lock wires and caused it to short circuit. He replaced the gasket and it works again. For now anyway, this washer is a piece of sh!!.
