I have a noisy cooling fan. I have cleaned and removed all the dust from the vents in the compressor compartment, but the fan still make a squeeking sound. Can the fan be oiled or greased or should it just be replaced?

Is the area between your fridge and freezer smoking hot? Can you smell the rubber seals melting? Does your fridge squeak like crazy? You have an issue with your condenser fan. You can save about $50 by fixing the fan motor yourself. I'm no engineer but this was an easy fix. 1) Unplug the fridge. 2) Take off the lower back panel covering the condenser and fan. 3) Unplug the fan (on the top left from the fan. 4) Slide the fan out of the bracket 5) Take the fan blade off. (This will take the most time and TLC, it is glued on) 6) Take the two screws out of the back of the housing. **The fan motor should be free of the housing and blade** 7) Remove the two screws from the fan motor housing. 8) Pull the shaft out of the motor and clean all parts with some oil and a rag. 9) Make sure all moving parts are well oiled then put the shaft back in the motor housing. 10) Replace the motor housing screws 11) Replace the motor into the fan housing and replace the screws. 12) Slide the fan blade back onto the shaft (I used some super glue to help hold it in place) 13) Slide the fan housing back into place 14) Plug the fan into the socket 15) Plug in the fridge to make sure your fix worked (it may take a minute to kick on) 16) Replace the lower cover

What is that part that should be purchased to fix this (I too have the RS2360SH)? My kids think there is a cricket chirping in the fridge -- it seems to go out every year, but used to be under warranty, now it's not. Thanks!

My frige & freezer do not cool, light & freezer fan run, compressor & coil fan do not run,air is blowing out of air vent in freezer,no cooling at all

If the compressor isn't running, the refrigerator or freezer won't cool - period. Hopefully, by now, you've had a repair technician come and troubleshoot the problem.

Cooling fans are too loud

Hi.

Sounds like the laptop just needs a right good clean out of dust. Get a can of compressed air and clean the air vents and the fan grill if you have access to it, that should quieten the laptop down. Dust is a common cause of noisy fans.

Hi, My three year old DV8396EA is overheating within minutes of boot; the rather noisy fan starting almost immediately. Core Temp meter, which previously gave readings of about 50 to 60 degs, now reads...

You are receiving temperatures that would be considered dangerously high for the internal components of your laptop. What i would suggest doing is opening up your laptop, if you are comfortable doing so, and inspecting the heatsinks, fans, along the chassis of the laptop, under the keyboard, and anywhere that there may be dust. Clean off all the dust with a good spay with a can of compressed air and try again. If your temps are still that high I would suggest redoing the thermal paste under the heatsinks in your laptop. Not having a good application at the factory can cause issues later on down the line. I use artic silver for my thermal paste. All you have to do is follow all the instructions that come with the paste and it should be alright. If you do not see your temps go down after that, I would suggest taking your laptop in for service as there could be a potential of damaging your internal components.

My Frigidaire refrigerator is at 60 degrees Fahrenheit and will not cool down

There are a few possibilities. First, Is the freezer portion working okay? If yes, then the problem is blocked air flow from the freezer to the frig. If no, then the cooling fan could be bad or the thermostat could be bad. First check for temperature in Freezer section, should be about 4-8 degrees no more. If it is cold, then locate the cooling fan behind the back of the frig and see if it is moving or listen for movement. If it is moving then rearrange the food in your freezer compartment.and frig compartment away from the vents. If it is not moving, then the thermocouple could be bad. compressor problems and freon leaks are not that common unless the frig has been moved alot. The cooling fan or thermocouple or overstuffed freezer compartment are the usual suspects in 90 % of cooling problems. cooling fans and thermocouples can be cleaned by using canned compressed air to remove dust which will sometimes cause a failure. The parts are inexpensive but labor is about $80. Start with the freezer because all of the cooling for the whole unit starts in the freezer.

Kitchen aid KSRG25FKSS04 freezer is not freezing

Hello, few things to check:

1) Remove dirt / dust that has accumulated on the condenser coil located on the back of the fridge, or underneath. Use a vacuum to clean off with.

2) Remove dirt / dust in / around compressor area. Make sure you turn power off first as there are several areas in this area that can "bite."

3) Look for heavy frost / ice buildup in the freezer compartment. Defrost if necessary.

4) Make sure the fan is blowing in the freezer compartment.

5) Make sure there is air flow from the vent at the top of the refrigerator compartment. This air is driven by the fan in the freezer (most models).

6) Loading a lot of unfrozen food into the freezer compartment will have the appearance of the fridge going out, but is actually functioning normally as it removes heat from the food so it will freeze.

7) Your thermostat is not working correctly. Move it to the coldest setting if not already done so. Listen for the compressor to kick on. If it doesn't, bad t-stat.

Thanks

Today i started up my Asus N50V Laptop up and the fan is running continually now, I rebooted it and still no change. It never has done this before?

Hi,

It is normal for the fan to kick in to cool the processor, but it sounds to me like the CPU fan and the air vents need a good cleaning.

Noisy fans and them running for a length of time means that its having to be on more to keep the processor cool.
Other causes of the fan being loud and on constantly is gaming and heavy programs. The more the processor has to work the hotter it will get, thus the fan being on all the time.

Have a look at your air vents and the CPU fan for dust. If you see any dust then you will need a can of compressed air to blast through the vents and CPU fan blades free of dust.

Removing the dust from the machine usually quietens them down.

The fans on my Sony PCG-K33 are loud and there is a lot of heat coming from under the laptop and out the vent on the left side of the computer. The problemdid not exist until did a complete uninsall and...

Hi,
Fans are usually noisy due to a build up of dust that's collected on the fan blades.
The best way to clean them is to get a can of compressed air and give short blasts through the air vents, also turn the laptop upside down and give a couple of blasts the CPU fan grill.
Alternatively you can get a clean, stiff paintbrush to clean the fan blades and blow through the air vents to remove any dust.
The laptop won't get as hot or noisy if you clean the air vents and CPU fan blades regularly.

Hotpoint Mistral frost free fridge freezer.

This is a little hard for me to understand being a yank and all. 0C is 32 Fahrenheit, right so 4/5 is about 40? make sure everything is working, compressor , evaporator fan motor (the one inside) condenser fan motor (the one outside) if you have one. You should have an adjustment for freezer and one for the fridge sections, right. The fridge section controls what amount of cold air comes from the freezer compartment. Check the vents inside, make sure they are not blocked and they open and close when you adjust the control. If this all checks good then check the thermostat. If the compressor shuts off prematurely, then a new thermostat may be in order. If you think you can do this, find the thermostat, by-pass the wires. this will make the compressor run continuously. After 20 minutes or so it should make the desired temperature or close to it. None of the fans or compressor should turn off while this is by-passed.
